Quit buying new tools
Join a tool-lending library if you've got one nearby. Borrowing that utility knife instead of buying a new one saves natural resources. Producing one shared tool uses fewer resources than producing many copies of the same tool.
Tools aren't cheap - especially power tools, many of which will set you back $100-plus. Lending libraries are typically free.
Many tool libraries even have uncommon tools like vernier calipers - and most let you borrow for several days.
