Last work day of 2010! My sister Sue should be here when I get home tonight. We plan to go out to eat somewhere, possibly Prime Time for broasted chicken.

Tuesday Update

I already want the week to be over. It is always hard to go back to work after a vacation. Sister Sue will be here Thursday night. Can't wait to see her.

Last night I used my new Bissell steam mop. I am very happy with it. Cleaning the floors never felt like less work. The best part is there are no cleaning solutions, just water!

Friday Update (Christmas Eve)

Happy Christmas Eve everyone! I have been baking cookies the last three days. Wednesday I baked Russian Tea Cakes, Snickerdoodles and Peanut Butter Cookies. Yesterday was Chocolate Chip Cookies. Today I am baking Peanut Butter Blossoms and Nieman Marcus Cookies. I also might make more Russian Tea Cakes if time permits.

I also did some last minute shopping yesterday. But, as usual we went over the menus again for tonight and tomorrow and I forgot a few thins. So there will be some last, last minute shopping again today.

Yesterday Thomas and Diedre came over for a late lunch after getting into town. We had subs from Jimmy John's. It was fun and we watched Planet 51 with them. It was a cute movie. They are coming over for lunch again today. We are planning to make pigs-in- a-blanket and mac-n-cheese. If it is cold enough we will eat pigs-in-a-blanket under a blanket.

Tonight we will be having the traditional Chicken Chow Mein and Egg Fu Yung. Mark & Wanda, Amber and maybe Matt, plus Curt and Andrew will be here as well.

It will definitely be a white Christmas, the snow is coming down this morning. Hope it does not interfer too much with my morning shopping.

Wednesday Update

I am happy that I have the rest of this week off. Today I start with Christmas cookies. I have quite a list that I want to make, so it might take a few days to bake them all. They will be served on Christmas Day. I will probably send some to Ashley and Paul as well.

Poor Paul is sick with stomach flu. Get well soon Paul!

Tuesday Update

Today is my Friday at work this week. I like having just Monday and Friday. It will be nice to spend a few days alone with Doug and Mao before the Christmas Day craziness really begins. And it will be a crazy day. Cooking most of the day and coordinating gift opening with everyone and video chat. It should be both fun and interesting.

Just a few more days until Thomas and Diedre come home for the holiday. I can't wait to see them, I hear they are making Rosettes. Maybe I will get a chance to see Luke and Parker, that is if Parker comes along.

I guess I need to get ready for work, the roads might be a little slick this morning. Drive carefully everyone.

Monday Update

Yeah!! A two day work week for me!

We a had a wonderful weekend. Chloe's graduation was excellent. Yeah Chloe!! We had a very nice family gathering at our house Saturday evening to celebrate. We had Horderves, cookies and cake.

Poor Mao kept thinking it was Christmas all weekend. He was sad and really crashed after Ashley and Paul left.

We also enjoyed having Paul and Ashley stay with us for the weekend. I'm glad they were able to spend a little time at Chloe and Ross' as well. It is alway hard to see them leave. We will be visiting them in MN again soon though.

Yesterday afternoon, I spent a few hours getting most of my Christmas gifts wrapped. I have just a few things left and stockings to stuff. I will most likely do some baking during my days off.

Friday Update

What a hectic week! This week really flew by. I am excited to see Ashley and Paul later today and for Chloe's graduation tomorrow. It will be nice to have everyone together close to the holidays, even if everyone won't be able to be together for Christmas. We still have lots to do before the graduation celebration. At least Ashley and Paul will be here tonight to help.

Monday Update

The weekend turned out well. We had a nice visit from Thomas and Diedre. There was a small snow storm here and a big one in Minneapolis. Thomas and Diedre were able to make it back home okay yesterday. I went shopping yesterday afternoon. Wanda and Amber stopped over just in time to watch the season finale of Dexter and Boardwalk Empire. Both were good, although I think there were some loose ends in Dexter. No one seemed to care who killed the cop who was fired, as long as Quinn was let off the hook. And what happened to the red car that Dexter stole and crashed?

Sunday Update

Yesterday was a pretty good day. I woke up early and washed dishes before going into work for about 4 hours. Thomas and Diedre stopped in for a visit while they were in town. We all went out to eat at Ting's. After they left around 2:30, I finished some of my Christmas decorating in the house. I need to take a picture of the small Christmas tree it is very pretty.

It was raining on our way to Ting's and by the time we were finished eating it was snowing those big flakes. I think we ended up with a couple of inches. Nothing like Ashley and Paul are getting in MN.

Thursday Update

I have nothing today. I was still tired last night. Still no Christmas cards. Watched a little TV, I don't even remember what. Talked with kids on the phone and went to bed early. Hopefully we will feel like working on cards tonight otherwise they will definitely get done this weekend.

Wednesday Update

Yesterday I was not feeling too well.I was so tired last night, I went to bed early instead of working on the Christmas cards. I will get them done I promise. We also have a lot of gift wrapping to do. Last night all I did was watch Glee and eat supper. I was in bed by 8:30.

Yesterday was a good day at work. But I was very tired last night and did not get to the Christmas cards like I had planned. Hopefully tonight I will get to the cards. Chloe and Ross stopped by for supper and they watch the Walking Dead season finale with us. Now Chloe needs to get caught up on Dexter and Boardwalk Empire.

Monday Update

That was a quick weekend. We got a lot of our Christmas shopping out of the way. We also had a nice evening out with the Jordan's Saturday night. We went to the Londoner. If you ever go there, you really need to try the Chicken & Mushroom Pie, delicious!

Yesterday was the usual weekend house cleaning and laundry. Wanda came a little early to use our computer for online Christmas shopping, her computer is broken and Doug is looking at it. Unfortunately, it is looking like she may need to get a new one or Doug is going to need to refurbish this one.

Last night we watched Board Walk Empire, Dexter and the season finale of Walking Dead. Walk Dead was good, but I did not want it to end. Next week season finales for both Board Walk Empire and Dexter.

Thursday Update

This week is flying by! I have been busy Cyber shopping in the morning and store shopping with Doug at night. Last night we didn't have supper until after 9. Tonight our shows are on, so it should be a more relaxing evening. I did have fun shopping last night though.

Tuesday Update

I survived Cyber Monday, it was actually a very good day. After work Doug and I did a little Cyber shopping ourselves and then Chloe, Ross and Wanda came over. Chloe & Ross ate leftovers with us and we all watched Walking Dead. It is getting so good and there is one episode left for this season.

Monday Update

It took too long to take out the trash from this long weekend. I now have no time to update. Hopefully I will find more time tomorrow.

Saturday Update

Yesterday morning I got a little Christmas shopping started. It was fun and the crowds were wild. You just have to keep your head about you and have a plan and be ready to change that plan at any second. Ashley said if it gets close to the end of the world or there is a zombie outbreak, she wants to stay close to me.

I also had to go to work, not so fun. Doug had washed most of the dishes. He was still working on them when I got home. I was very tired after work, but I managed to wash some of the larger things (pots and roasters) from Thanksgiving, have pizza with the Jordan's, Chloe, Chris, Ashley & Paul. Then we put up the Christmas tree. The tree is beautiful as usual and Mao is very excited, so excited he is sleeping belly up and snoring under the tree right now.

We survived another Black Friday morning!

It will be a grand feast today. Good food, friends and family, that is what I am Thankful for!

Tuesday Update

Last night Wanda came over and we caught up on Boardwalk Empire, Dexter and Walking Dead. They were all very good. Doug made a delicious batch of popcorn!

I can't wait for tonight! Paul and Ashley are driving down! This is going to be a wonderful Thanksgiving with lots of friends and family here. I don't like the weather this time of year, but everything else I do like.

Monday Update

Thanksgiving week. I work today and tomorrow, I hope they go by quickly. The rest of the week can go slower, except for Friday during the day. I can't wait to see all the kids later this week!! Ashley and Paul are thinking of leaving Tuesday evening if snow stays in the forecast for Wednesday.

We had supper with Chloe & Ross last night. Unfortunately, Chloe had to work at 6:30, so her visit was shorter than we would have liked. Ross stayed around and watched TV for a while. We did not end up watching any of our shows last night, we are waiting to watch them with Wanda.

Sunday Update

Yesterday I woke up before the sun and worked all morning. At home we went over the menu for Thanksgiving and I went shopping for things we did not have yet. Later we did some cleaning around the house. Today will be a little more relaxing, since we are only having supper with Chloe and Ross. Of course, there is still more cleaning and a few other things we need to do today. Maybe I will have time to go over to the Taste of Sam's.

Yeah! It is Wednesday, next week Ashley and Paul will be driving down. I can't wait.

So we already have to work the day after Thanksgiving and yesterday they asked us to volunteer to work Saturday as well, on the phones! No one has taken up on that yet. We are afraid next year they may make it mandatory. That would stink.

Last night we went to see Chloe and Ross' apartment. It is very nice and cozy. Their cat is very sweet as well. We went to Prime Time for supper. The broasted chicken was delicious as usual.

Sunday Update

We are officially empty nesters once again. Sigh.... Ross, his parents and friends, came and took most of Chloe's things yesterday afternoon. There are still a few things in her bedroom that she needs to go through. I can't wait until they get the place settled a little and we can go over to visit.

We went grocery shopping last night in the cold and wind. We now have most of the main course items purchased for Thanksgiving. We only have a few little things and last minute stuff left to purchase. Thanksgiving is only 11 days away. I am so excited to have everyone together again. I wish we all lived closer together. Sigh....

Friday Update

I'm glad it is Friday. I'm excited for Chloe & Ross, they get their apartment on Saturday. Chloe has been busy packing. Unfortunately, Chloe has to work Saturday afternoon when the moving is going on.

Last night we had Doug's yummy chicken and Rice dish for supper. We watch all of our usual Thursday night shows. On Big Bang, the Amy Farrah Fowler slumber party bit was hilarious. Community wasn't the best episode and it was the first time Chloe had ever watched it. She said she still liked it.

Wednesday Update

Today is Paul's birthday. Happy Birthday Paul. It is 13 days until we see Paul and Ashley. All the kids will be here for Thanksgiving. That will be great! We got to talk with Paul and Ashley last night, that was very nice.

We had supper with Chloe and Ross last night. We had frozen pizzas and watched TV. Glee was pretty good and both Kurt and Beiste got kissed. Next week Gwyneth Paltrow makes a guest appearance.

That was another quick weekend. Saturday I worked, went grocery shopping and we got caught up on Dexter and Boardwalk Empire. Yesterday we had chili and watched Dexter and Walking Dead. I also went to the Theisen's grand open sale. It was too busy.

Friday Update

It's finally Friday. Last night I had a nice salad with chicken Doug had made in the crock pot. Doug put his chicken on a sandwich and had a salad. We watched our usual Thursday night shows. I also found time to wash a few loads of laundry. Aren't we exciting people. We also still need to watch last weeks Dexter and Boardwalk Empire.

I'm tired this week. It must be the weather. Not much else to write about. Last night we had pizza for supper. We got caught up on watching teach and I hemmed a pair of pants for Chloe.

Wednesday Update

Doug and I voted after work. We had to wait a few minutes which is good, that means people were out voting. Then we went home and made Pigs in a blanket, fries and mac-n-cheese. Chloe and Ross ate with us. We watched Walking Dead. Wow, it was gross, intense and very good. Of course I tried to talk to the TV. The characters just won't take my advice.

Monday Update

It was a very good Halloween at Russet House. Chloe arrived home in time to carve her pumpkin, she did a Hello Kitty pumpkin, very cute. Wanda was the first to arrive. She wasn't dressed up, but she brought us pumpkin shaped Krispie Treats and apple cider. Mark arrived shortly after. At first we were afraid we wouldn't have anyone show up. But, finally one girl showed up. Doug told her since she was the first, she could take three treats. She ran up the street to the group she was with and we heard her say, "That house is the greatest!" Pretty soon we had all kinds of kids. I think we ended up with about 15 kids for the night, an all time record.

Amy, Pat, Ella, Breckin, Dan and Gail showed up a little before 8. They stayed to have a little soup and chatted for a while. Ella was a rock star and Breckin was an Iowa Hawkeyes fan. Nick, Ana, Alex, Sarah and Jacob also showed up. Ana was a French woman, Nick was a robot and Alex was an alien.
