Saturday Update

We froze about 8-9 dozen ears of corn last night and we have another 2 dozen or so in the frig still on the ear to eat this week fresh. Yummmmm!!! I love corn on the cob!

OT this morning. I have the key and most people wanted to come in at 6 so they could leave earlier. So, I have to get ready here soon. Have a great Saturday everyone!

Thursday Update

This week is taking too long to get to Friday. I hope today goes by quickly. I did not do much last night. I came home and had leftovers for supper, watched Myth Busters and some other TV that I remember, looked at wedding pictures on the computer and went to bed. Yeah, my life is so exciting.

Wednesday Update

Last night we had supper with Chloe and Ross. Doug cooked chicken in the roaster. We also had four cheese bow-tie pasta and corn. It was very good and we filled up Ross. He even took left overs. After supper they watched Wipe Out while I washed dishes. Then Chloe and Ross left and Doug and I watched Deadliest Catch. That's about it for yesterday.

Oh I almost forgot, when I woke up yesterday morning there was a mysterious car parked right behind the van. The car looked like it had been in a wreck with the front end all bashed in. We though maybe it had been stolen,crashed and left at our place. Doug called the police and they said nothing had been reported. When he looked out again later it was gone. Weird!

Tuesday Update

It was review day at work yesterday. I felt like I was listening to one of the kid's teachers when I used to go to school conferences. My supervisor started out with, "This is my favorite review to give". It was a very good review, but enough of this gloating.

When I got home last night Doug was ready to can Hot Pickle Chunks. I helped, but Doug did most of the work. I think they are going to be a very good and a very hot batch. Look out Wanda. So far the cucumbers are doing the best of anything in our garden. Although we have also picked a few decent green peppers, 2 eggplant, some hot peppers (used in the making of Hot Pickle Chunks), 1 zucchini and there are lots of tomatoes ready to turn.

Last night we watched a new episode of Top Gear and James May's Toy Stories.

Monday Update

Sloppy Joe's were great yesterday. Alex was cute as usual and not too fussy. Everyone was gone by 8, so we had a bit of the evening alone. Chloe was home by 10 so I saw her a few minutes before going to bed.

Mao is fed and the garbage is at the curb. Time to get ready for another round of work.

Sunday Update

Wow, I slept in and I still feel yucky. Probably too much sleep now. I am making Blueberry Scones this morning. Yummm. Chloe isn't here because she is going to Adventureland with Ross and some others today. As she says, "The park, not the movie!"

I am very excited to see Ashley's wedding dress in person. She went dress shopping after work yesterday and found a very beautiful one. And it was on sale! She sent us pictures, but I imagine it looks even better than the pictures show. She is going to be such a beautiful bride! But we all knew that anyway. Paul is very, very lucky.

Friday Update

It is going to be one of those summers. Now our little window air conditioner that cools our bedroom and the day kitchen has decided to quite working. I guess we got some good use from it for the last 3-4 years, so it is to be expected. They don't make things the way they used to.

Wednesday Update

Yesterday was a long day, 6-5:30. Very, very busy at work. Emails got behind while I was on vacation and now I am trying to get them caught up.

Doug fixed our leaky shower. No more drip, drip, drip. After work I re-potted the Dracaena plant. It had been leaning and almost fell out of it's original pot. I think the turtle got too wild swinging and pulled it over.

We watched Wipe Out last night and then Deadliest Catch and The Captain Phil Tribute. I cried again, even though I knew he passed away in Feb. He was probably my favorite captain.

We are back to busy at work. Extra OT today. Not much else to post at this time.

Monday Update

We saw Thomas & Diedre for a lit bit yesterday on their way home from the honeymoon. They had a great time, but they also looked exhausted. We had a surprise visitor yesterday, Jordan Anderson showed up around 4 with spinach dip, Hawaiian bread and a blueberry crumb cake (yummy). We did miss Wanda though.

Sunday Update

The house is quiet and empty even Chloe is at Ross'. Yesterday morning we took John & Elaine to the airport and saw them off. Chloe came along and we dropped her off a Ross' house. We came home and Doug mowed part of the yard and I had lunch. Doug came in and was so exhausted from the last several weeks that he took a 3 1/2 hr nap. While he slept I was dishes and finished the front yard. Then I ran out of gas and had no more in the can. I am going this morning to get more gas and finish the back and side yard.

Today Thomas & Diedre come back from Chicago. I think they plan to stop here. I can wait to see them!

Friday Update

Wow! Friday already. Last night we had supper with John and Elaine. John cooked stuffed Iowa chops on Curt's grill. Elaine made potato salad and a nice lettuce & tomato salad. Chloe stayed long enough to eat and then rushed off to go to the pool with Ross & friends. Unfortunately Ross did not make it to supper because his car is acting up. Tonight John & Elaine will stay at our house and we will drive them to the airport in the morning.

After we got home last night we checked the garden and we pick 7 cucumbers from the garden. Several were very large as I have been forgetting to check. This weekend I will tend to the garden, it needs weeding quite badly. The yard also needs to be mowed.

Thursday Update

Wow! It is Thursday already. While at work it seems like the time is standing still, but the week has actually gone by very quickly. Tuesday was Chloe's B-Day. Doug, Chloe, John & Elaine surprised me at lunch time and joined me at Deb's for a quick, but delicious lunch. Unfortunately, I did not have time to stay for ice cream. Wednesday John & Elaine came over so Grandpa could make malts for everyone. They were very good. Last night we shared ice cream cake with Chloe. Ross had given Chloe the ice cream cake for her birthday. Tonight we visit John & Elaine over at Curt's apartment for a BBQ.

Tuesday Update

I wasn't ready to go back to work yesterday and for good reason. It was a day with one person out, the web site was messed up and I had to go back to answering phones for a good share of the day.

Today is Chloe's Birthday! Not sure how we are going to celebrate yet. Ross brought her an ice cream cake last night. He seemed very excited about her birthday. He kept saying "Happy Birthday" to her and she kept saying, "It's not my Birthday Yet!"

Thomas & Diedre are leaving on the honeymoon this morning. They will be stopping at her parents to drop off Luke and here to drop off a wedding video. I can't wait to see it.

Monday Update

The house is cleaned up a bit from the wedding madness and the kids are gone, except for Bobo of course. She is resting snuggly in her bed. I had a wonderful vacation, although it was a bit frenzied at times. The rehearsal & dinner went well, I survived professional makeup, the wedding was beautiful, the reception was a blast and the kids got lots of wonderful gifts.

Thanks to everyone who joined in to help make Thomas and Diedre's wedding day and all of the festivities surrounding it even more special!

Sunday Update

Very happy and still a bit tired. Thomas and Diedre's wedding was the most beautiful that I have ever been to. Everyone was so wonderful, especially Mark & Wanda! I hope we can return the favor someday. The Husmann clan pulled through and it was wonderful to see them! We didn't get to dance the "Curt" as planned, but I'm still glad he and his family pulled through.

My ankles are sore and so is my throat. But I am still a very happy mother & mother-in-law.

I guess I need to start baking scones for later.

Friday Update

Busy day today! I need to frost cakes this morning. Also going to Sam's Club once they open at 10 to get flowers, salad, buns & rolls. Doug still needs to make baked beans, Veggie Joe's and dill dip. We also have to check our list and make sure we have everything. The tricky part will be getting everything over to the Community Center, getting the keys at 3:30, unloading vans and getting to the church for rehearsal by 4. After rehearsal Doug needs to hightail it over to Pizza Ranch. I hope they don't mess up our order.

I'm still very excited. And I need to thank Thomas and Diedre for dancing lessons last night. I'm very nervous about the Mother/Son dance.

Thursday Update

Everything is going to get crazier from here on out. I am getting excited!

I have the last of three cakes in the oven right now and it is not even 8 AM. I don't plan to put the whipped topping frosting on until tomorrow, because I don't want it to dry out. Today we cut veggies, cook pork, make cole slaw and baked beans. I think Doug will also be mixing up the Veggie Joe's. John & Elaine plan to come over this morning to help and Diedre is also going try and make it over sometime today.

Diedre is picking up Chloe this morning to go pick up dresses. Thomas and Doug are going for a final fitting for tuxes sometime today as well.

Last night we made a list of everything we need to take along to the dinner. I'm sure we will need to check it seeveral times before tomorrow afternoon to make sure we have everything.

Hello Kitty Wedding Anyone?

Wednesday Update

Yesterday was an easy day for me. A little laundry and straightening of the living room before John & Elaine arrived. Doug and Chloe went to the airport to pick them up. Thomas & Diedre arrived with Luke while I was waiting for them to come back from the airport. Luke was his usual energetic self. Diedre was a bit nervous and excited.

As soon as they got here, Doug and John worked on charging the air in Blue. John & Elaine are borrowing Blue while they stay here. I think Elaine really likes the car. Once it was fixed, they decided to drive over to Curt's apartment because they were a bit tired, they had gotten up at 3 AM. Then Doug worked on the ice machine in the frig, as the part we ordered arrived in the mail. We now have ice coming from the frig. Doug was very excited.

Ross stopped by to visit and we all went to Sam's Club and then Sonic for Cherry Lemonade Slushies. Chloe got the grape that tastes like Jolly Ranchers and Ross got a root beer float. Then we stopped by Curt's apartment on the way home. It turns out John & Elaine never took a nap. They had just finish cleaning up from supper. We stayed and chatted a while. Curt even borrowed his neighbor's cat for a while to show everyone how much it looks like Angel. It was a sweet little thing.

We didn't stay long because everyone was getting hungry for supper. We ate and then watched TV. Deadliest Catch & After the Catch. I had to cry again, more Capt. Phil stuff.

Not sure what is on the list today. We will probably make more BBQ sauce. We also need to go over to the Community Center to take a peek at the kitchen area. We also will be going over the rehearsal dinner menu and make a schedule of what needs done and when. This will be tricky on Fri. We get the community center key at 3:30, need to be at the church at 4 for rehearsal and the dinner starts at 5 & Doug will be picking up chicken & potatoes at Pizza Ranch at 5. Busy, busy, busy.

Tuesday Update

Still a few things to do. We now have the small guest room finished! Doug also has the Mac up and running! A bit of last minute shopping today and a bit more cleaning. The rest of the week will be busy with cooking and prep for the rehearsal and wedding. I am excited. Thomas and Diedre are coming to town this afternoon. Busy, busy, busy....

Wedding Mishaps

Monday Update

Yesterday was a busy day. I put the plants back where they belong in the living room. We moved the scaffolding and Chloe's extra boxes to the basement. We put the old frig in the day kitchen. We are going to keep it until after the wedding to put all the rehearsal dinner food in. We also moved the water cooler to make space for the frig. The entryway is also now saw dust free. The list actually got smaller yesterday, instead of bigger. The day ended with me on the couch watching fireworks on TV.

Saturday Update

On vacation at last. Next week at this time we will be at City Looks getting ready for the wedding! It is coming quickly now. I'm very excited!

Last night we went over the menu and shopping list for the rehearsal dinner. I purchased a lot of things that were needed last night. Still a few more things to do and we need to go take a look at the Community Center this week to get a better idea of what we have available there.

This morning I am washing the rest of the living room drapes. We have lots of other things to try and knock off of our list as well.

Crude Awakening

Friday Update

Friday is finally here! The best part is, I already know that they are letting us out early because of the 4th holiday. My vacation starts at 3 this afternoon.

Last night we worked on getting the ice maker working on the frig. Doug ended up ordering a part online because there was a rather bad leak. There will be ice before company gets here. John Howe will love that!

I also started washing the drapes in the living room. This was long over due. I have the side window done and the front big window left. I may have to move all the plants to get at them. Doug also put up a new Roman shade in the dining room. It looks very nice. Mao was tearing apart the old venetian blinds.

I hope to get a lot done this afternoon after work. Still need some table things and food items for the rehearsal dinner. It is getting very close now. I'm rather excited for the wedding and to see lots of family together.

Thursday Update

Two days to go! Not much to blog today. I close a fantastic sale at work yesterday! Over 2K!

Last night we shopped for an ice maker starter kit. Menards and Sears didn't have what we needed. Finally found the one we needed at Home Depot. Then we went home had supper washed dishes and it was time for bed. The days go by way too fast.
