Tuesday Update

Yesterday was back to normal at work. Not nearly as busy as Monday. In the afternoon we had a Go To Meeting training session on a new product release. The meeting was interrupted in the middle with no sound, so an hour meeting ended up taking an hour and a half.

Not much happened last night. Doug and I went to Sam's Club for a few things and then we ate supper and watched Dirty Jobs and the new season of Scrubs. I don't like Scrubs as much now that they are teaching.

Tuesday Update

Cyber Monday was crazy. I ended up working 7-5:15. Last Night Doug and I watched The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, Shrek the Halls and Find My Family. Love the first two, not sure yet how I feel about Find My Family.

Monday Update

It is Cyber Monday, that means 50% off everything on our web site today only. It is going to be freakin' busy.

Cream of the Holidays Soup was amazing. Doug also added a new soup. Turkey & Mushroom Noodle, it was very good as well. It was nice to have Chloe visit again before she went back to school. She helped me decorate the big & small tree. We went to Walgreens to get LED lights for the small tree and I sent a string of LEDs with Chloe for her small tree. Loving the new lights for both trees.

Dexter was amazing again last night. I was the crazy one talking to the TV and actually grabbing at the TV during Dexter last night. Only 2 episodes left this season and next week is supposed to have even more twists. Wanda and I can't wait.

Saturday Update

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving. It has been so busy around here I have not had time to blog for a few days. I know I had a very good Thanksgiving. It was good to have most of the kids here. We missed you Ash.

Black Friday shopping was fun as usual. A lot more people at the Marion Walmart than we had expected. Thomas was a little nervous of the crowd at Menards. We end up in and out of that store in record time. I had to go to work, but Thomas and Diedre continued shopping and got everything they were looking for.

Thomas and Diedre are going home this morning. I will miss little Parker, he has been a very nice house guest. I just wish Mao would loosen up and have fun instead of trying to be such a tough guy.

Wednesday Update

One more day until Thanksgiving. I will be working early again today. It should be busy after work tonight. I will be baking two pumpkin pies, we need to take one to Ethan. He is the only one in his family who likes pumpkin pie. I hope the weather holds out so Thomas and Diedre have a safe trip this afternoon.

Tuesday Update

Tuesday already. Yesterday was crazy with people yelling on the phones at me and my co-workers. I had a woman yell at me that her name was 'dissatisfied customer'. It doesn't seem like the holidays at all. I even have to work the day after Thanksgiving. It's been quite a while since I've done that.

Monday Update

The weekend went too quickly again. I hope the first three days of this week go quickly as well. Yesterday the food was excellent; pulled pork, chicken, cole slaw, chips and chocolate pie. Yummy...

Sunday Update

Yesterday was a very productive day. I got quite a bit of cleaning done and my Thanksgiving shopping finished. In the evening we went over to Curt's apartment to visit. It was quite a crowd; Roger, Randy, Randy's friend (not sure of his name) and Luke were down from MN. Chloe and Ross stopped in for a little while. There was also Andrew, Jessica, Big & Little Q, Cassiele (sp), Keelea, Cathy Thomas and Walt. It was very loud, but fun. We were also invited to brunch this morning, we have not decide yet whether we are going.

Today we are having pulled pork sandwiches, chips, Wanda's cole slaw and a dessert.

Saturday Update

It's the weekend at last! Last night we had Mark & Wanda over for pizza and a movie. We watched The Boat That Rocked. I know we already watched it recently, but it was even better the second time.

Not sure what I have planned for today. Probably go over my menu for Thanksgiving and get some cleaning out of the way. Doug plans to join Curt and company at Third Base to watch the Iowa/Minnesota game. They were originally coming here and the plans changed mid-week.

Friday Update

It's Friday finally. We went to the City Council meeting last night. Not as many people there as I thought there would be. They voted for going ahead with plan "D". This of course includes a round-about. Not good news.

Thursday Update

What a day at work yesterday. We started the day with absolutely no phone calls. It was actually great for us not so good for the customers. Our 800 number was telling people our phone was no longer in service. The only calls we ended up getting all day were from our toll number which had to be added to our web site. I probably took 10-15 calls all day, I usually take 50-60. It did help us get caught up on other work though. I still plan to work overtime this morning. We were so far behind on emails that even yesterday did not get us all caught up.

Wednesday Update

Another early morning. I have an annoying little headache that I woke up with. I hope it goes away soon. Not much to write about this morning. Oh, I got a gift certificate at work for a Butterball turkey. I'm just waiting for them to go on sale so I get the most for my $15. Sorry Wanda, hope you still have room in your freezer.

Tuesday Update

Nothing exciting yesterday. Worked a long day, came home ate supper, washed the Sunday dishes, watched Two & a Half Men and Big Bang Theory (very funny). Went to bed after watching House Hunters International. I told you it wasn't exciting.

Monday Update

I guess it's back to work this morning. Yesterday was a pretty easy Sunday. I already had most of the cleaning done and Doug only had to make one of the soups. We had Bean & Ham made by Doug and Potato Soup made by Wanda. Both soups were a real hit. Johnny even showed up to give them both a hard time about the soups. Too much salt or not enough?

Sunday Update

Yesterday turned out to be a good day. I went to the Stampin' Up party with Wanda. We made a Thank You card, a Christmas card and Christmas gift tags, it was lots of fun. The dogs Elli and Sierra both like to beg from me. It was also very nice to see Thomas and Diedre. Last night Doug and I decided to eat at BK. I had 2 whopper jr's and fries. The whopper is still my all time favorite BK sandwich.

Saturday Update

It's nice to see a little sunshine today. This afternoon I am going with Wanda over to Diedre's parents house for a Stampin' Up party. It is kind of fun to get together and make greeting cards with other people. I will also get to see Thomas for a little bit today. Other than this I don't have many plans today. Hopefully Doug and I will have pizza for supper and watch a movie.

Friday Update

Not sure what all I will be doing today with my day off. I do know I am going to Hy Vee this morning to pick up some of the Friday only specials. Yesterday I bought 2 turkeys at Fareway for $0.40 a pound. Wanda & Mark stopped by last night to take them to their freezer, since we do not have room for them. I guess I am ready for Thanksgiving and plenty of Cream of the Holidays Soup.

Thursday Update

It was nice sleeping in until 6:30. Unfortunately, I could sleep no longer. Today we plan to do some work in the garage. We are going to try to move Ringo over to make room for Blue in the garage. We also have to do our new insurance electives for the coming year. Lots of fun, I know. Mao is a little confused as too why I did not go to work today.

Wednesday Update

One more day of overtime this week. The economy must not be too bad if so many people are spending money on silly software programs. We had an old guy call in yesterday and wonder why the program he bought would not play on his TV through his DVD player. He just wanted to be able to print. He also insisted his last program played on his VCR.

Last night we watched Pirate Radio or was it The Boat That Rocked. Same movie two different names. It was very good, I would watch it again.

Sunday Update

Yesterday's weather was so beautiful. I went outside to clear leaves from the patio and the front entry. It looks so much better out there now. Doug says if it stays nice today we may eat on the patio by candle light tonight.

Today I plan to go to the library book sale. It is the last day when you can bring a box and fill it for $8. I hope there are still some good books available.

Saturday Update

Went to the store after work last night to avoid annoying old Saturday shoppers. Guess who was out, annoying old Friday night shoppers. We just can't get away from them. I put in a long week of 9+ hours every day. Next week I will be working more overtime, but I have vacation on Thursday & Friday. I also found out that I will be working the day after Thanksgiving which is a first for a very long time. I guess there will be no early morning Black Friday shopping. I am going to miss that for sure.

One more early day. Next week I have vacation on Thursday & Friday so I guess it will all be worth it. Not much happened yesterday. We decided to go to BK for supper last night, I had a couple of the 1/4lb $1 burgers and fries. Mao likes to share the burgers.

Thursday Update

I'm going to work overtime again this morning. It has been a long week and I look forward to the weekend. Yesterday Mao's friend Caramel was getting beat up by another cat that we have seen around lately. He is colored similar to Mao, only slimmer and younger. She was messing with her eye afterward and then went to our front yard to chase squirrels, so I guess she wasn't too badly hurt. I did not actually witness this, Doug said it happened while I was on my way home from work.

I will probably go into work early again today. That is if I can get myself going. I got my flu shot at work yesterday. I even got a flag band-aid. Not much else to write about from yesterday. There wasn't much on TV, so we watched two Kathy Griffin specials. I went to bed early a little after 9.

Tuesday Update

I am getting ready to go into work early for overtime. When I stay at work late Mao gets upset that I am not home on time, especially when it gets dark early. We didn't do much last night. Just watched Antiques Road Show, Two & A Half Men, The Big Bang Theory and Leno. Big Bang was about nerds flying kites and watching football. It kind of remind me of myself watching football.

Sunday Update

Unfortunately we had a very slim turnout for Halloween. Only 6 kids showed up last night. A neighbor boy and his friend, Amy brought Ella (skeleton) & Breckin (business man), Dan & Gail were with them and Jacob brought Nick (mad scientist) & Ana (princess). I will post pictures once Doug transfers them from the camera.

We started to watch District 9 with Mark & Wanda, but we stopped when Jacob and the kids stopped by. After they left it was getting too late for us old folks to finish watching the movie. The best part of the night was when Ana animatedly tried to explain Halloween jokes to Doug. I had printed a list of Halloween jokes for Nick to read. Nick likes to tell jokes.

We also talked about old candy that you can't buy in the US any longer. Doug's favorite is Bar None. Here is an old commercial for it. I kind of miss the Bar None as well.

Saturday Update

Yesterday was a good day off. The worse part was grocery shopping among all of the old people who were out. They just don't get the concept of pushing the shopping cart like you would drive a car. They want to push it down the middle of the aisle and just stop while they look at something on the shelf, oblivious to anyone else around them. While I was gone Doug called to let me know the power had gone out and we may have to make pizza and carve pumpkins by candle light. Luckily the power was not out for long.

When I was bringing the water jugs to the back door I noticed Mao's little cat friend, Caramel, had brought us a gift and left it on the patio. It was a dead mole. Of course Doug and I had to take pictures which I will also post.

After getting the groceries put away we scrambled to get all the ingredients for pizza together before everyone arrived. Ana and Nick put together their pizzas first and then Doug and Wanda put the ingredients on the larger ones for us adults. We had chicken & artichoke, sausage & mushroom, pepperoni and garbage pizza. Everyone had plenty of pizza and a few were even a bit uncomfortable. We also had jello jigglers just before Jacob and the kids left.
