How to Recycle Candle Jars

Who wants to melt out the leftover wax so you can recycle the jar? Here is a new trick: Put the used jar in the freezer, and an hour later, you can tap the bottom a few times and pop the wax right out.

Candle jars can easily be reused for a variety of things. They are easy to clean with soap and water, so before you toss them out or put them in the recycle bin, please take a look at some inventive ideas of what to do with your jars.

• Re-gift
  • Attach a cookie recipe to the jar with dry ingredients included inside. Not a cookie person? Try a fudge mix or bean soup mix and put the contents inside with recipe on a homemade card. Add some ribbon and you have a simple and useful gift.
• Keep your marble collection
• Fill with seashells from your beach trip
• Start a change jar
• Make a small plant container

Better yet, stick to tea lights. As long as the package says that the metal cups are aluminum, you can pull out the used wick and toss the metal in the recycling along with your cans.
