Not much going on. Had a good Monday to start the week, just hope the rest of the week is as good and goes by as quickly. Have a good week everyone.

Friday at last!

Thursday Update

Not much happening here. We have just been relaxing after work and watching TV. Doug got me new tires for Puck and the drive is very nice now. No more wobbling down the road. I had some split belts. It's a good thing I wasn't driving it on the highway.

Monday Update

The weekend was pretty good. I decided not to work OT on Saturday. (I need a break once in a while.) I even slept in a little bit. The bad part was that I had a horrible headache all day Saturday. Thomas had his coaching classes in Cedar Falls all weekend, so we kept in touch with him about the weather. He ended up staying in Waterloo overnight rather than risk icy roads Sunday morning.

Sunday was much better. I got up and started laundry, washed dishes and baked Fun-fetti Cupcakes and Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins. I helped Doug with the vegetables for the soups. We had a pork & cabbage soup with cannelini beans and chicken & spinach with cannelini beans. Both were delicious. We watched the two Saturday Night Live specials. One was all commercials, the other was behind the scenes.

I also found out on Sunday that Puck has a flat tire. I will be driving Blue to work today and Doug is going to see about new tires.

Thursday Update

I decided it was time to do an update. There has not been much happening around here. Just watching our regular TV shows, tonight is the busy TV watching night. Doug has been preparing delicious meals and has them ready when I get home from work.

Poor Chloe has been sick for the past few days and now Diedre has a nasty head cold. Thomas said he is also fighting something off. No word on illness from Rawson, Paul or Ash. Stay well everyone!

I'm enjoying this weather. Right now it is not even 5AM and the thermometer outside says 45 degrees.

Monday Update

Happy Valentine's Day everyone. It was such nice weather this weekend, I hope it stays this way all week. Chloe and Raws came over and watched some of the Grammy's with us, it was nice being with them.

Super Bowl Sunday Update

My favorite part of Super Bowl Sunday is making (and eating) Jello Jigglers in team colors, appetizers and commercials.

This morning we have a little snow on the ground and Thomas has made it to his coaching class in Cedar Falls okay. I am moving a bit slow today, but at least I feel rested for now. Yet to do, help Doug with the rest of the Super Bowl appetizers, bake cookies, clean the house and finish laundry.

This reminds me of Mao.

Update

I'm not going anywhere until they plow our street. Too many drifts and the snow in the street is very deep. Snow drifts in the entry way to the house. Snow blew in way to the wall by the kitchen. I took pictures, will post later.

Wednesday Update

Nice weather we are having. My work has been delayed until 10 this morning. I was planning to come in early for overtime, so I will still be in before 10. It would also be good to get moving before the snow plow comes by, I don't think they have yet. I want to avoid some of the traffic at that time as well. I am going to start getting ready in a few minutes.

Monday Update

Just took it easy this weekend. Worked Saturday morning for 4 hours. Came home and washed dishes and played the uke with Doug. Did a little house cleaning and laundry yesterday. Not an exciting weekend.

Wednesday Update

Not much going on in the home front. We are missing the kids now that we are back home. It was really nice seeing them all this past weekend. We had lots of laughs.

We also want to give Wanda and Mark a big Thank You for watching over the house and feeding Mao while we were gone. And thank you to Thomas and Diedre for their hospitality and Diedre's great cooking. The food was delicious all weekend!

Doug and I have been practicing our ukes since there is not much to watch on TV. I am now attempting to learn Mary Had A Little Lamb. I can play it pretty well, but I don't know it without looking at the sheet music. My goal is to learn it by heart. It probably drives Doug nuts.

Sunday Update

We are having a great time in Eldora. We arrived at about 5:30 Friday evening. Diedre had crackers, bread, avocado dip, red pepper dip and pickles waiting for us to munch on while waiting for Ashley and Paul to arrive. They got here around 9:30. For supper we had a very yummy cheeseburger ring that Diedre baked. I will need to try it sometime. We also got to enjoy the company of Jenny Lu and Bella while waiting for Ash and Paul. Bella is so cute and the pets are so patient with her. Of course it helps when Bella feeds Luke crackers. After supper the kids play WII rock band (I think that is what it is called). It was fun to watch.

Saturday morning I slept in until around 8:30, everyone except for Paul was up before me. I was very tired after staying up until 12:30 AM. We ate cinnamon rolls Diedre had baked the night before and some of us had mimosas. I did not have a mimosa. We watched TV and talked until it was time for lunch. We went over to China One about 12:30, Raws and Chloe arrived shortly after we got there. We had a very nice lunch at the buffet and then we went back to Thomas and Diedre's until it was time for the Stampin' Up party at Jenny Lu's.

The Stampin' party was fun, however, I was very glad Ashley helped me with one of my last group of cards. Chloe and Ashley really found it fun for their first time at Stampin'. In fact after supper they went into the office with Diedre and blocked the door with the stampin table and it was a 'No Boy' zone. They did more Stampin'. Ashley is considering doing her wedding invites with stamps like Diedre did. She was experimenting with stamps. Chloe also made a couple of cards for co-workers.

While the girls were holed up in the office the boys went for a tour of the town and shopping for more pop. The chicken lasagnas baked in the oven while all of this was happening. The guys arrived back just before the lasagna was done. Thomas and the boys brought a card table and chairs up from the basement and we had a real Howe style meal. I think everyone is very full from the weekend. After a delicious supper, we also had my Lemon-Orange Cake and Banana shakes. Not to mention beer and some of us even did shots. I considered a shot, but chickened out. It is not becoming of a 53 year old woman to get sick in front of her children.

I went to bed before 11:30 last night and was up by 6 this morning. I have been enjoying the company of Parker. It seems you cannot be at the computer without him jumping on your lap and wanting lots of petting and snuggles. I love real cats. I also miss my little curmudgeon Mao.

Friday Update

Yeah! It's Friday and I only work until 12. Can't wait to see the kids later. I baked a Lemon-Orange Cake in the Dutch oven last night, it will be coming with us.

I wonder if Chloe would go to this movie with me?

Wednesday Update

Yeah!! 2-1/2 days until the weekend!

The big monitor is back. Doug figured out what was wrong. It is good to have it back on the desk. Not much else to report about. Last night we watched some TV. We watched a show about the science fiction pioneers of TV. They talk about Star Trek, Lost in Space, Twilight Zone and others. Then we watched a show host by Alan Alda about tracing the human spark.

Tomorrow I plan to come home and bake a lemon-orange cake in the Dutch oven.

Tuesday Update

One more day closer to the weekend!

Yesterday morning was a bit slick. To be safe I took 1st Ave. I also took it again when I went home. I had called Doug just before leaving work and he said the power was out in our neighborhood. As I drove down 1st Ave, I got to Walgreens and all the lights were out, stop lights and businesses. Only a few businesses must have had generators. I didn't see lights again until I got to Outback. Then everything beyond Outback was dark again. Even Lindale was dark. It looked like most of the south side of Marion was also with no power. It sure was an interesting drive home.

When I got home Doug had candle lit and led flashlights turned on. It was actually pretty bright in the house. We decided to have frozen pizza for supper since we could still use the stove. We didn't get power back until around 7:30. The worst thing is Doug thinks our big monitor blew a capacitor, it won't turn on. We now have a small monitor hooked up to the computer. It is a bummer.

Monday Update

Yesterday was a good food day. We had chicken noodle and bean& ham soup. Mark and Wanda were here, Wanda brought zucchini bread, chocolate friendship bread and chex mix. Sara also came with the kids. She brought farmers cheese.

We hadn't seen Sara and the kids since well before Christmas. Alex is now crawling all over the place. He really liked the turtle car we got him. Nick & Ana liked their harmonicas as well. Doug took a nice little video of the kids. I think they enjoyed watching it play back. We watched the Golden Globes, some of the speeches were too drawn out. I wish they had one of those big hook things to drag them off the stage when they got too windy.

I can't wait for this week to get over. Going to Eldora this coming weekend. It should be lots of fun.

Wednesday Update

Back to work today. I wish I could just have the whole winter off and hibernate. It sounds like the January cold is really going to set in soon.

I did not do a lot yesterday. A little laundry, straightened up the dining room closet and watched a movie with Doug. We also cleaned snow off the cars and Doug did some snow blowing. Chloe stopped by in the evening and I went to Target in her new car Tamale. I bought myself a new purse as a birthday gift. I went to bed around 9. exciting, I know.

Monday Update

Happy Birthday to me! Yeah, I don't have to work today.

We took it easy yesterday and went to Red Robin. Doug and I had the Royal Red Robin, yummy. Chloe, Raws, Wanda & Mark came along. It was a good time and since I had my Birthday burger coupon, of course they sang happy birthday to me.

Hopefully Chloe will get her new car today, so she can come give me a ride. Chloe & Raws already gave me my birthday gift, a Ukulele Method Book 1, a polishing cloth and fret board cleaner. Wanda and Mark gave me a white crew tee, a teal cable hoodie sweater and very cushy socks. Thanks everyone.

Today Doug will make me Lamb Stew for my birthday dinner. Sorry everyone, we only had enough lamb to make a small stew. The best part of my birthday is, this year I get to celebrate again in two weeks in Eldora with all of the kids.

If this cat can learn to play the Uke, so can I!

Friday Update

Friday at last! Didn't do much last night. Had a very yummy supper of Hamburger Rice Hotdish. We watched Big Bang Theory and Shit My Dad Says. Tried to watch The Office, but we just couldn't. Steve Carell's character just ruins the show for us.

This is my birthday weekend. I have Monday and Tuesday off. I am going in to work on Saturday though, it still ends up being a 3 day weekend.

Thursday Update

Not much to report. After work I came home and the house smelled good. It was supper. Doug made Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes & Ham in my new Rachel Ray casserole dish. We watched a little TV and practiced the Ukes. I can almost play By the Light of the Silvery Moon.

Tuesday Update

Yesterday was very busy at work. I ended up with a good sales day as well.

Last night there wasn't much on TV, so Doug and I practiced our ukes. Doug said I did pretty good, although I wasn't hearing it. I need to learn the chords a little better. I'm sure I will get there with practice. It was a lot of fun.

Saturday Update

Happy New Year everyone! We ended up spending New Years Eve napping until about 7:45. This really did not help me stay awake though, pretty sure I still dozed a little waiting for midnight. Because it was just the two of us we decided to he the new chicken finger wraps from Hardees. They were actually very good.

Today is the day I take down the Christmas trees. Mao will be sad I'm sure.
