Saturday Update

Yesterday was kind of busy for me. I had the day off from work and had intended to go to Mercy care early in the day to have my lumpy ear looked at. Abot 7:45 Peggy from Hy-Vee called and asked if Ashley would be available to work around 11. So then I knew I would have to wait until later to go to Mercy Care.

I took Ashley to work and then went to Goodwill to try and find some jeans. I purchased 1 pair of jeans, 2 blouses, a long sleeved shirt, a mixing bowl with the multi -colored swirls as seen on 30-Minute Meals, a $2.38 Corona typwriter for Ashley and a Stephen Ambrose book "Citizen Soldiers" for Doug. After Goodwill, I went back to Hy-Vee to do some shopping. Then I went home to put the groceries away and ate two pieces of pizza before going to Mercy Care. That was a waste of two hours. They had an intern look at my ear for about 3 seconds. She told me none of the doctors there would touch it. I know it is gross, but come on! Now I have to wait until July 21 to have it removed by a dermatologist. When I got home, Thomas, Chloe and I went to Target and bought Doug's birthday gift. It is a Uniden two handset 5.8 Gegahertz phone system. I can write about it here on the day before his birthday, because the kids and I could not wait and gave it to him last night. He was very happy and surprised.

This is getting rather long, so I will wrap it up. Today I plan on defrosting freezers, helping Doug prep for the Sunday meal and clean Thumper's smelly tank.

Yeah! Today is my Friday. At work anyway. The last two days have been fairly busy at work, so I hope today goes fast as well.

I finally planted some petunias in the front yard garden box. I think they look nice. Hopefully Ashley will take some pictures that I can post soon. Doug, with a little help from Thomas, put the thermometer on the side of the garage. It will be nice to know how hot it is when working in the garden or just entertaining outside.

Doug is going to make chicken curry tonight for dinner. I can't wait.

Friday Update

I'm glad it is Friday. When it is slow at work the week is very long. I have a three day weekend for the Memorial Day holiday. And then I just remembered that I asked off on June 3 for a long weekend in celebration of Doug's birthday. That means I will have to work only three days next week and have two three day weekends in a row. Yeahhhh!!!!

Thomas is moved back home now. He tried to clean up his room a bit last night. What a mess and oh the laundry.

Congrats to Diedre for her raise and new position at La Petite. Have lots of fun on those field trips with the kids and drive safely.

Thursday Update

Today Thomas finishes his first year of college. Congratulations Thomas, a job well done. Doug is driving up to Waverly to help him move the rest of his things home today. He has already brought most of the small items home. Mao was a little upset waiting for Thomas to return after he left last night.

I don't think the season finale of Lost was all it had been hyped to be. It left a lot of questions unanswered. And started even more questions going in your head. They had better not cancel it before the next season. I am still upset that Carnivale will not be back.

I'm glad that Carrie won on American Idol. She was the best singer, although Bo was a very close second. Ashley and friends wanted Bo to win of course.

Monday Update

Not sure what to post today. It seems like the weekend was really short. Yesterdays barbeque was great. Not many people cared much for the polenta, but I liked it. And Wanda's lemon cake was good even though it stuck to the pan.

We watched two movies this weekend. Ocean's Twelve was OK, but not as good as Ocean's Eleven. Wicker Park was very good once it got to the end and everything fell into place. For awhile I was confused about what was happening at the present time and what had happened in the past. It was one of those movies where I am upset with the people and yelling at them to do something else.

Friday Update

This is the end of another very slow week at work. Our area is having a food day today. Our supervisor set it up so food day was on her day off! Thanks to Doug for making the Scandanavian Macaroni Salad for me to take.

Today is Thomas' 20th birthday. Happy Birthday Tommy!

Congrats to Ashley for her speech award. And for the photo on channel 9.

They are deciding to change our dress code at work a little. The jeans must be a little nicer than we have been allowed to wear. No holes, no fraying, not too much fading. No sweat pants or sweat shirts. Nothing untucked unless it looks good. No t-shirts with words or pictures. I can't wear my Wartburg t-shirt to work anymore. Grrr!! And worst of all, no tennis shoes. This starts June 1.

I am looking forward to steaks this Sunday. Nice job on your blog Doug!

Tuesday Update

It looks like it is going to be another slow week at work. We have a new contest going. If we sell over $65 to one customer, we pick an envelope to see what prize we win. Yesterday I won a very small package of M&M's. We are also having another food day on Friday.

Not much else to update about. Ashley made a really nice presentation for school and when she took it to class the fonts she used changed and it messed up the presentation a bit. She still got 15 out of 15 points. GO Ashley.

I wish everyone would update their blogs. I don't even know if Thomas knows that on May 11, he posted the same thing twice. I guess his brain was really fried.

I am hoping the weather will be nice today, it is already 50 degrees.

Friday Update

Yeah, it is Friday! I think Mao wanted to sleep in today, he must have thought it was Saturday. He tried to keep his eyes closed when I woke up and turned the light on. He did peak once. He was still on the bed when I left to go to the bathroom. But, when I got out of the bathroom he was in the dining room looking at me.

Not much happened yesterday. Doug and I went to KFC (gay) and had snackers, and potato wedges. Doug also had two pieces of chicken and a yummy biscuit. We saved one snacker for Basher when she got off work. We watched Joey. Then we watched a show about feral children. I can't believe what some so called parents will do to thier children. Why have a kid if you don't want to take care of it. After that Doug watched Project Greenlight. They are making a horror film that is supposed to be very good with some kind of monster that takes on the skin of what it eats.

Don't forget free Frosty Weekend at Wendy's. I love Frostys....

Thursday Update

I hope all of the kids had a wonderful time at the Greenday concert. I don't know yet because I went to bed before the concert was over. We had a very nice meal of barbecued pork chops, apple sauce, corn, rolls and salad. American Idol went just as it should have yesterday. Anthony is now gone. Thomas gave me a Mother's Day gift while he was home yesterday. I can now shop at Home Depot for some of the extra things that I need for my garden. Thank you Thomas.

Wednesday Update

I'm glad it is Wednesday, that means the week is almost half over. Today is the Greenday concert that all of the kids have been looking forward to. Thomas will be driving down with a friend to go to the concert. They will be arriving around 2:30 or 3:00. Doug is planning on grilling marinated pork chops for the starving college boys.

We are now on a basement flood watch. After last year we do not want to take any chances. When it rains, we watch the basement very close. Last night we checked to make sure that anything that was cardboard or could be damaged was moved to higher ground.

I am afraid to see what the American Idol results will be tonight. Anthony wasn't all that bad, which could upset things. I was happy that Uchenna and Joyce won the Amazing Race.

Monday Update

Mother's Day was very quiet. No kids here most of the day. Ashley surprised me with a bouquet of flowers and some yummy Reese's Cookies. Doug helped me make some very delicious marinated chicken. We were going to grill it, but the weather decided not to co-operate. It was just as well, Doug was not feeling well all day and should not have been outside grilling anyway.

Sunday Update - Mother's Day

Here it is Mother's Day and I am setting at the computer by myself at 10 in the morning. I looks like it will be just another day. No gathering today because of it being Mother's Day. Doug is not feeling well. His shoulder and stomach are hurting. Ashley has to work today at 1:00 and does not know what time she will get off. Chloe is not here this weekend. However, she did call this morning to tell me she still has people from Prom at her house. Unfortunately, we did not make it to her grand march. And last of all Thomas is at school and working today. I will probably do some more gardening today, if the weather holds out. I planted some of the tomatoes that I still had in the kitchen to the garden last night.
