Friday Update

So last Saturday Chloe and I went shoe shopping for the wedding. We found great shoes at Payless, but we said, "Too bad there's no BOGO". Guess what, BOGO started this week! Just our luck!

Overtime today and tomorrow. Sunday will be a day of rest, I hope. Although there will be the usual weekend laundry, cleaning and cooking all rolled up into one day. So, yeah, no rest.

My favorite is the Bacon-Scented Bubbles.

Wednesday Update

Not much to say. Yesterday the emails at work were grueling. Another long day. We had Zio Johno's for supper, it made up for the rest of the day. And I have great leftovers for lunch today!

Wednesday Update

Not much again today. We had some lovely storms yesterday. Luckily only a few sticks down in the yard. And a small branch on the garage. I love watching the blue glow of lightening from the living room window.

I think Chloe was a bit concerned for a while, she was getting some hail stones. No too large though. Thomas said they had pea sized hail in the early morning hours yesterday. Just enough to keep him awake.

Like I said, I don't have much else. We mostly watched weather reports last night. Oh and by the way, it's Prairieburg, not Prairiesburg. Newscasters who mispronounce town names should read a map.

Tuesday Update

Not much to blog today. Got up yesterday, went to work, came home, went to Walmart, came home, ate pizza for supper, watched Top Gear & HGTV and went to bed.

Monday Update

We had a nice quiet Easter here. Doug took some jello jigglers and chocolate chip scones to Holland and Mila in the afternoon. For supper we had ham, salad and rolls. With jello jigglers and chocolate chip scones for dessert. Chloe, Ross and the nice friend (sorry Zach) whom I always forget his name (I will update this later once Doug reminds me) came over for supper. They stayed for a little while to chat. The rest of the evening I dozed on the couch while watching Life and HGTV.

Sunday Update

We had a wonderful day with the kids yesterday. The only thing that would have made it better, would have been if Ashley could have been here as well.

Thomas came over around 11, he and I went shopping for tuxedo rentals for the wedding. We were surprisingly disappointed with the quality of service at Irwin's. Next we went to Skeffington's. They had excellent service, great choices and competitive prices. Next we went to Men's Wearhouse, it was super busy and had such a corporate feel. Plus the prices were quite high. I think Skeffington's is going to be the winner.

Thomas had lunch at our house and helped Doug get the battery out of Blue. Then he went back to Diedre's parents house to grade papers. Teachers, always working! After Thomas left, Doug and I went to Sears to purchase a battery for Blue. Doug is very happy that Blue is running again.

Chloe was the next to arrive, with her usual cheer (not the laundry soap) and laundry. I made Chocolate Chip Scones for her, she was very happy. She also tested the Easter Jigglers that I made. We had a nice chat while waiting for Thomas and Diedre to come over for supper.

The choice for supper was all over the place, imagine that! We started with Papa Murphy's pizza, or how about Metro Buffet (no too far away), Hamburger Mary's, Yen Ching or how about Jimmy John's and we eat outside somewhere. Eating outside got vetod to Chloe's displeasure. We finally decided on Genghis Grill which ended up being an excellent choice. Everyone got exactly what they wanted and I got to try Green Tea Ice Cream which is very good, although I wouldn't want it all the time.

After supper, we dropped Doug off at home and I went shopping with the kids at the mall. Chloe and I purchased shoes for the wedding and I got fitted at Victoria's Secret for an undergarment to lift "the girls". That however, will be a purchase made at Target or Walmart. We also stopped in at Hot Topic and Chloe purchased a sticker to put on her new pink Mini Netbook she will be recieving sometime this week and she bought a TMNT sticker for Thomas. He was excited.

We got home and Doug was out for a drive in Blue. Thomas and Diedre waited for him to arrive to say good-bye, as they plan to leave for home after they get back with Diedre's family from Easter at Green Valley. Ross came over after work to take Chloe to a movie, 'Clash of the Titans'. Doug made Ross a pizza to eat before the movie and he devoured it.

That was pretty much the end of the Day for me, I was tired and went to bed after Chloe and Ross left.

Saturday Update

Yesterday was a good day, even though I had to work. It did rain most of the day, but I was at work, so that was only bad for those who didn't work.

Thomas called to say he bought a new car, a 1999 Honda Passport. He came over and took Doug and I for a drive. It is in really nice shape. One owner, a "little old man" who kept it in his garage.

After Thomas left we had a late supper. Doug made me a delicious Ham & Cheese Omelet, and we watched "Who Do You Think You Are?". It was Brook Shields and she has quite a bit of royalty on her father's side of the family.

Chloe is planning to visit later today and I am getting ready to make more scones for her and Laura.

Wednesday Update

My last day of vacation and the house is empty again. Ashley left yesterday at about 12:30 and is now safely back in MN. We already miss her. We will be seeing Chloe sometime this weekend, but no kids will be here for Easter. It will be very strange. Maybe we will do an Easter cheese hunt for Mao.

Tuesday Update

Monday was another fine day of vacation. I made Chocolate Chip Scones, some for us and some for Chloe. We picked up Wanda in the morning and drove to Cedar Falls. We meet Chloe at Soho and had a very nice lunch. I had the Manhattan (Roast Beef, Roasted Turkey, Smoked Ham, Genoa Salami, Swiss, Provolone, Romaine, Tomatoes, Red Onions, Mayo and Basil Vinaigrette on a Baguette), it was very good. We also shared Bacon Wrapped Dates (the dates were stuffed with goat cheese) and Bruschetta.

We were rather tired when we got back home. Doug took a nap and Ashley tried to nap for a little while. When Ashley got back up, we decided to go for a walk. We walked through the cemetery over to the trail in Thomas park and then back home past the Marion football field. It was a nice afternoon for a walk.

I am sad that Ashley is leaving today, but she has homework waiting for her and needs a little rest time before starting classes again. I hope we get a chance to go visit her soon.

Monday Update

Had a very good day yesterday. Tommy came for a visit in the morning and help me with dishes and some cleaning. Ashley helped make Ambrosia and BBQ Sauce. In the afternoon I took Ashley over to Hy Vee to see how they have destroyed the entrance and made it even more unfriendly to shop at. (Does this remind you of another store?) If they did not have such good coupons, I would not shop there at all. I think I will start going to the one next to Lindale.

For supper we had pulled pork, chips, calico beans (Wanda), corn, black bean and avocado dip with tortilla chips and ambrosia. Guests were Wanda, Mark, Sara, Nick, Ana and little baby Alex. I held Alex a good share of the night. He is such a tiny cute little thing.

This morning I am making Chocolate Chip Scones. Then we are driving up to Cedar Falls to have lunch with Bobo at Soho's. Wanda is coming along as well. It should be another wonderful day.

Sunday Update

Fun evening yesterday. After one of Ashley's favorite meals (hamburger rice hot dish) we went and stole Wanda away from Mark and drove around C.R., ended up at Lupita's Mexican Bakery on Johnson Ave. Could have used Amber's language skills there as the cost of pastries was lost in translation. We ended up with a bag of goodies and various flavors of Jarritos. Yummy!!!

Now this is some honeymoon!

Friday Update

Yeah!! I thought Friday would never get here. We get to see Chloe this evening and Ashley tomorrow. Thomas and Diedre will be in town this weekend, but tomorrow they will be spending all day at the couples retreat at First Lutheran Church.

Wednesday Update

I made a mistake on my blog yesterday, my vacation is Mon. - Wed. next week.

Last night we went to the car wash and cleaned up Puck. We also vacuumed and wiped down the inside when we got home. Doug said he needs to wash Blue tomorrow, because Blue does not like bird poo. I'm glad Doug does not use the same parking spot as this person below.

I don't normally advertise beer on my blog, but I thought this was kind of fun.

Tuesday Update

I am excited for my upcoming 3 day vacation next week (Mon - Thurs.). I will not even be working Saturday! I really need this Spring break!

Monday Update

Yesterday we had White Chili with Corn Bread and Wanda brought Pumpkin Bars. Everything was very good. We also had some Hummus that Doug made and Summer Sausage and Cheese that Justin and given us several weeks ago. After supper we watched two episodes of Life narrated by Oprah.

Friday Update

Happy Friday everyone. Actually yesterday felt like Friday and today feels like Saturday. Unfortunately, it is not true and I still have to work both today and tomorrow.

Yesterday Doug started up Blue and we went for a nice drive. Washed the car and went to Sam's. Chloe has to leave for Cedar Falls today, unfortunately I will not be here to say goodbye to her. Have a safe trip Bobo! Love ya!

Thursday Update

Yesterday was a good day. I was able to catch the last 5 minutes of the Parade on my last break. The best thing I saw was all the dogs wearing scarves that said "Adopt Me". They were nice puppies!

I received my dress in the mail. I tried it on and I like it. Because the dress is sleeveless, Chloe and I went shopping last night for a scarf to go with. We found one at Kohl's, but I'm not yet sure how to wrap it or if it is the right accessory.

We also saw Amy and Nick at Kohl's. They were shopping for dress pants for Nick to wear to Ben's wedding on Saturday. Ben and Allison are getting married in a restaurant in Chicago. Amy was not sure about the name of the restaurant though. I guess the honeymoon will be in Iceland. What a lucky guy.

I see Lacey Brown was voted off Idol last night. I'm not surprised, she was one of our least favorites. I did not watch the show. It is actually easier just to follow what happens the day after. I don't have to watch all the nonsense that way.

Wednesday Update

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone. Don't drink too much green beer. I'm having Corned Beef and Cabbage for lunch.

I'm happy, Chloe called a little after 9 last night and said she was coming to spend the night. She will be in town for a couple of days.

Sunday Update

Oh Dang! I forgot to move the time on my watch forward! I did not realize it is already 9:30. Not sure what we are doing today. Wanda is sick and will probably not be coming today.

We went to Johnny's surprise 50th birthday party last night. It was at the Longbranch in the Hideout Room. It was fun and the food was a little spicy, but good. I'm not convinced that John was surprised, although he said he was. They had some old pictures of John from High School and when he did modeling. He wasn't in gray shorts and a sweatshirt! He was for the party though. Doug thought it should have been a theme party where everyone dressed like John.

Saturday Update

I survived another Saturday of work. I was getting a little weary towards the end of the 8 hrs. I have a little more energy now that I am back home. Not sure what tonight will bring.

I was sad to hear Wanda's illness is making another go at it. She is not planning to be here tomorrow, so Jacob and Sara can bring the new baby over.

Friday Update

Happy Friday everyone. Although I am working tomorrow, I am still happy that it is Friday. I don't have to talk with people on the phone on Saturday's. I can listen to music while I work instead.

I knew I didn't want to watch Idol any longer. Katelyn Epperly from Iowa was voted off last night. Although we did not care for Lilly Scott who was also voted off. We did not watch Idol at all this week. I really don't need to watch to keep up with who is being voted off any way. Also voted off were Alex Lambert and Todrick Hall.

We watched our usual Thursday night shows; Community, Parks & Recreation, The Office and 30 Rock. I also caught about half the new show, The Marriage Ref. It is funny and disturbing at the same time.

Thursday Update

I don't have much today. Doug was gone with Johnny out off town most of yesterday, so Mao and I were home alone for supper last night. After supper I watched 2 episodes of Living with Ed and some House Hunters. I fell asleep off and on during most of House Hunters.

I almost forgot, Spring is officially here! Thumper has been eating for the last 3 days.

Wednesday Update

It is raining and the water is starting to trickle into the basement. Not a lot yet, just enough to keep the sump working and to make Mao nervous.

We are officially not watching American Idol any longer. Last night we watched another episode of Faces of America. I really enjoy this show. I wish I knew more about my family history.

I finally ordered my dress for the wedding last night. I hope it fits okay and does not need too many alterations.

Tuesday Update

I hope this week goes by quickly. Tuesday just isn't far enough into the week for me.

Last night was pretty much the same as most Monday's. We ate supper, washed dishes and watched our shows, Top Gear, Two and a Half Men and Big Bang. I was really hoping Charlie was getting rid of Chealsea and she keeps showing up again.

Monday Update

Yesterday was very laid back. I actually slept in until 9:30. Of course, I was up for about 45 minutes around 5. It felt good to sleep in for a change. I did a little cleaning and laundry. Since we had no cooking to do it was still very relaxing. We watched the Oscars in the evening. I think Mao enjoyed the day as well.

Saturday Update

Chloe stopped by last night and had supper with us. She couldn't stay too long because Rossy is sick and was going to his place to take care of him. I hope she does not get sick too. She showed us signing for different animal names. It was fun.

Happy Thursday everyone. Last night was busy with shopping and other things going on. Saw a very nice ISS pass, it was quite bright.

Wednesday Update

Happy Birthday to Ashley. I don't get to see her today, but we will get to see her at the end of the month. I was able get some vacation time off while she will be here during her Spring break. I'm very happy about that. I hope Thomas and Chloe will try to be here to see her as well.

I am also excited to see Chloe this coming Friday. She is going to show us what she purchased at Old Navy. She also said she might make cupcakes.

The OT has not slowed down any. I will be working this Saturday again. The sup can't be there, so I will be the key holder.

Tuesday Update

I hope everyone has a good Tuesday!

After reading 'Darwin, His Daughter & Human Evolution', I would like to read 'Darwin in Galapagos: Footsteps to a New World'. I have been enjoying reading about Darwin and his family.

Last night we had fish tacos for supper, they were really good! All of our Monday shows were new; Top Gear, Two & A Half Men and Big Bang Theory. I went to bed around 9:15. Exciting, I know.

Monday Update

That weekend went fast! We spent Sunday morning cleaning house. Chloe stopped by for about an hour and then had to leave to Cedar Falls for work. We sent her away with a bag of goodie treats. Her favorite being the Cupcake Pebbles cereal, of course!

Then Doug and I went grocery shopping, since I was too tired after work on Saturday. We also picked up a baby gift for little Alexander. We go home and put groceries away just in time to star making lasagna, in fact supper was about an hour later than we normally have it on Sunday. Oh well, Wanda got to help in the fun of putting the lasagna layers together.

After supper we watched some of the closing ceremonies for the Olympics. Everyone was feeling tired and Mark and Wanda were gone by shortly after 9.

Lasagna thick and very good! It will even be better today now that the flavors have blended.

Wanda made banana cake with cream cheese frosting and cheesy French bread, only we ate the bread before pictures were taken.

Sunday Update

Jacob & Sara's baby was born this morning at 5:10 A.M., Alexander Thomas Messier, 6 lb 9.2 oz, 19 1/4 inches. Both mother and baby are doing well.

Saturday Update

It is the last weekend of the Olympics and I have not had a chance to watch any Curling.

Last night we went to Metro Buffet with Chloe, Wanda & Mark. It was fun. On the drive there we went past the Casey's on 11th in Marion and a car had driven through the big window on the side of the building. All the lights were off in the gas pump area.


I'm up and getting ready to work another Saturday of OT. 8 hours for me.

Friday Update

It's Friday for most, Thursday for me. I will be working OT tomorrow, bright and early. I don't mind, but I know Mao does.

Doug received an email from Jacob last night. Sarah is now on level 3 bed rest and is not to do much of anything. They still plan on inducing on Monday, unless her blood pressure gets worse before then. If this would have been a Leap Year, the baby would be born on the 29th, instead of the 1st.

I'm looking forward to seeing Chloe tonight. She plans on driving down after work today, so we should see her around 6.

Thursday Update

Once again, I don't have much. Worked OT yesterday. Doug made Poutine for supper and we had it over McDonald's fries. Yummy!! We watched Idol and the Olympics. I didn't think many of the guys were all that great. The last one to sign was probably the best.

Wednesday Update

It's Wednesday and I don't have a lot to say. Last night we watched American Idol and a little bit of the Olympics. Doug made his amazing Tuna Casserole. We did not take pictures. Thomas said they went to the Lu's for supper, they had ordered Gino's Pizza from Chicago. It sounds like super delicious pizza.

Tuesday Update

Mediacom is up to it's tricks again. There must be weather outside, anymore it doesn't matter what kind of weather. I had to wait to even begin blogging. Mediacom drops us offline for no good reason.

Yesterday we watched Top Gear, some Olympics and a little bit of House Hunters. Not much else exciting going on here. Sara is okay for now, her doctor plans to induce labor next Monday. I think she is on bed rest this week.

Monday Update

We had a wonderful, hearty, comforting meal yesterday. Beef Stew (the best), Irish Soda Bread (only 4 ingredients), 7-Layer Salad (Wanda makes the best), Bread Pudding (we didn't actually have room in our stomachs for this tasty treat) and Lemon Souffle (oh, so good warm). Johnny and Justin even showed up.

Unfortunately, Jacob, Sara and the kids did not make it. Sara was having blood pressure problems and is going to the doctor today. The baby may come a week sooner than expected.
