Thursday Update
Today's forecast: Cloudy with scattered flurries. High in the mid 20s. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.
Yesterday was a good day. My brother Tim got into town around 8:30. We talked for a little while when he first arrived and then we meet my brother Dan at his house. We sat and talked and looked at old family photos. Lots of memories some remembered by all and others forgotten until mentioned. This family certainly did go through a lot of dogs and homes.
After looking over the pictures we went to the Primetime Sports Bar on Center Point Road. They have really good broast chicken and potato wedges. We talked some more at the bar and then drove to Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, so I could show my brothers where Dad's remains will be placed.
Today Dan, Tim, Mark, Doug and myself are planning to take a drive to the Monticello and Anamosa area where a lot of our childhood memories are. Doug will be our photographer.

Most people dump product containers before they're empty. About 10% of your toothpaste goes unused if you don't squeeze out every last bit.
Cut your toothpaste tube or lotion bottle in half - you'll be amazed how much is left inside.
Add a little water to your shampoo, conditioner, or liquid laundry detergent bottles, then shake it up.
Store containers upside down in your fridge, cabinet, or shower, and let gravity work for you.

Wednesday Update
Today's forecast: Mostly sunny. Patchy ice, fog early in the morning. High around 14. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph. Wind chill readings to 11 below in the morning. A slight chance of light snow in the evening...then a chance of light snow after midnight. Low around 11.
Yesterday morning Doug and I went with Ilse to the funeral home to make the arrangements for my Dad. He will rest in the Garden of Meditation at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
My brother Tim is arriving sometime this morning and plans to stay in town until Sunday. Thomas and Diedre will arrive sometime on Friday after school is out. My sister Susan will arrive Saturday. We are planning to get together at Doug and my house. It looks like most of my siblings and possibly a couple of cousins will gather for memories/reunion.
Yesterday afternoon was spent planning what we might serve on Saturday and house cleaning. We also are still planning our Super Bowl Sunday gathering. I know Dad would not want us to stop tradition.
Yesterday morning Doug and I went with Ilse to the funeral home to make the arrangements for my Dad. He will rest in the Garden of Meditation at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Tuesday Update
Today's forecast: Cloudy with a 40 percent chance of light snow. High around 12. North wind around 5 mph in the morning becoming light. Wind chill readings to 3 below.
Yesterday was a sad day. I went to work in the morning and around 10:30 we received the call that my Dad had passed away. I stopped to check on Ilse before coming home. She was doing as well as can be expected, very calm. The dog was also calm and it was the first time since they had moved here that the dog never barked once while I was there.
When I got home I started the task of contacting my siblings. It looks like a few of them would like to get together. This would be the first time in many years that some of us have seen one another. It should be interesting and very awkward.
This morning Doug and I are going to the funeral home along with Ilse to make the final arrangements. My Dad's wishes were for cremation and no funeral service. He will be missed.

Obama Directs Regulators to Tighten Auto Rules
President Obama directed federal regulators on Monday to move swiftly on an application by California and 13 other states to set strict limits on greenhouse gases from cars and trucks. He also ordered the Transportation Department to begin drawing up rules imposing higher fuel-economy standards on cars and light trucks.

Monday Update

Yesterday was not as busy as Sunday normally is around here. I went to visit Dad in the morning and then came home to say goodbye to Chloe before she went back to school. In the afternoon I took Ilse to see Dad and then she needed a few things at the store. That went pretty well. I went home and we had supper. Mark and Wanda came over about 7 and we watched "Still Crazy". They left around 10:30.

Sunday Update
Today's Forecast: Mostly cloudy. A 20 percent chance of light snow in the morning. High around 10. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Wind chill readings to 14 below in the morning.
Yesterday morning started with a visit to my Dad. It is getting hard to go visit. I know he still recognizes us, but he has no way to respond. Although yesterday he surprised the nurse and I when he blurted out "Hi". He has also received some visits and calls from old friends who are concerned. I also went to visit Ilse yesterday as I had promised her I would help her go over her bills and get them paid.
When I finally got home I realized we were running out of some basic things, so we put together a list and I went shopping. It was very cold for shopping yesterday. Doug and I had chicken sandwiches for supper. They were very tasty. Later Chloe came for an overnight visit. We had chocolate shakes with her.

It's going to be cold again.
I hope today gets over quickly. I need a few days away from work. It has been a very tiring week. We had company the first few days of the week and we have been busy checking on my Dad and Ilse and making sure everything is being taken care of. I don't know what I would do without my wonderful husband.
