Beef Stew, very, very good! Oh, so comforting. Bread Pudding, unfortunately everyone was too full and we did not eat this yesterday. I am looking forward to having some for breakfast though. Wanda's amazing 7-Layer Salad. I went back for seconds. Irish Soda Bread, it goes very well with Beef Stew. Lemon Souffle, all I can say is Yummmmm!!
The sun is shining today, yeah!! Although we are supposed to get more snow later today. Yesterday I had a horrible headache and Mao would not let me sleep in. I ended up taking a nap that did nothing to help. I no longer have a headache, thank goodness. So, today I will be busy catching up on cleaning and other stuff I didn't feel like doing yesterday. We did go grocery shopping in the evening and the guy at the checkout actually noticed that we had a roll of ground beef with a slit in the package. I told Doug they must have hired new help. Usually they are oblivious to these things.
Today's menu is; Beef Stew, soda bread, 7 Layer Salad (Wanda) and dessert (Doug's secret). Hope to see everyone, regardless of the weather.
I'm tired today. Mao started trying to wake me at 4:30, again at 6 and I finally woke around 7. Today we will probably grocery shop and I have laundry to do. Doug is watching Olympics coverage. He is also looking forward to getting out and using the snow blower.
At least this week is going by fast. I just now sat here and thought it was Tuesday. No, it is time for the Wednesday Update, yeah!! Working OT makes the brain fuzzy at times. I really don't have much today. We had yummy cheese burgers and Sterzings chips for supper last night. Then we watched 2 hours of Idol and some Olympic action.
Not much to update about. Thomas and Diedre ended up not having school yesterday. It least it was a make-up day they missed and not an actual scheduled school day. We had leftover Gumbo-laya for supper last night. After supper we watch a new episode of Top Gear and then the Olympics. Not much else happening here.
I hope everyone had a fantastic Valentine's Day. I know I did. Chloe stopped by for supper, unfortunately Ross was not able to make it. Mark and Wanda also came over for the Gumbolaya and Red Beans & Yellow Rice. The Blueberry Blancmange was delicious! After supper we watched a movie called 'Ghost Town', it was pretty good. I cried at the end.
Empty house again:/ Hopefully Chloe and Ross will show up today!
Today is Valentine's Day, also the start of the Chinese New Year. It is the year of the tiger. Tomorrow is Diedre's birthday and Tuesday is Fat Tuesday. Wow, what a week! In celebration, we are making Gumbolaya (combo of Gumbo and Jambalaya), Red Beans & Yellow Rice (for our vegetarian friends) and a Blueberry Blancmange.
It will be nice having another two day weekend. Thomas spent the night. He got here just in time for the beginning ceremony for the Winter Olympics. I stayed up later than usual, about 11:30, I think. I was still up by 6 this morning. I have been looking at dresses online all morning. Not seeing much I like. However, I do like the one at Coldwater Creek that Wanda told me about.
We will be having lunch with Thomas & Diedre today before they leave back home. It should be fun.
Friday at last! Unless Thomas and Diedre don't make here tonight, I will not be working tomorrow. If they don't make it down, I will try to go in for OT tomorrow. Puck is still ailing, so Doug will be driving me in to work again this morning.
Last night I had to shovel a spot near the garden for Doug to move Gordon to. I really dislike shoveling. My back and legs feel it a bit this morning.
Two days until the weekend. Weather permitting, Thomas and Diedre will be here this weekend for a visit. I haven't seen them since Christmas, so I'm excited.
This morning Doug is going to drive me in to work. He wants to take a closer look at what is ailing the van. It stalled when I got to work yesterday and once on my way home last night. I dislike car troubles.
Phil Harris, the captain of the Cornelia Marie,died on Tuesday due to complications which arose from a stroke he suffered last month. He will be missed. Harris worked in the fishing industry for 32 years.
Not much to blog about today. It was a pretty busy day at work yesterday. Still working the OT. When I got home Doug was in Gordon trying to get out of a snow bank the plows had pushed his way. I wasn't able to help much with the pushing, so the neighbor and his father came over and helped.
We watched Ellen on American Idol last night. She is adding a bit of humor to the show. We also watched Pee Wee's Playhouse, but I kept falling asleep.
Last night I thought it would be okay to take East Post Road home. It usually is okay and I like taking it much better than 1st Ave. Unfortunately, I was wrong and it took me over an hour to get home last night. After seeing so many people ahead of me having trouble getting up the hill, I decided to to head over to Cottage Grove instead. It was just as bad, so I had to turn around and make my way over to Beaver Ave and then over to 1st Ave. I have learned my lesson, today I take 1st Ave.
An elderly couple are forced to separate when they lose their house and none of their five children will take both parents in.
I want to see this movie it will be released on DVD, 2/23. Orson Wells said that Make Way for Tomorrow was the saddest movie ever made, so it will probably make me cry.
Too bad the Colts didn't win. But at least we got to try white jello which is actually quite good. The black jigglers were actually more purple than black this time, not sure what happened in the mix. Ana loves jigglers. We had a few appetizers along with the pizza. Wanda also brought bacon wrap lil' smokies. Yummm! Ready to eat and watch the game.
I woke this morning and found the following note from Doug. "Be Careful! BIG Racoons outside house last night!" (At least it wasn't those badgers again.)
Well another Super Bowl Party has come and gone. I really like the pizza pile-up idea. Much less work and less cleanup. We ordered a little too much pizza, but you know how we are, we like our leftovers! Of course as usual on of the pizza places had yo mess up. We ordered 4 medium $5.99 pizzas from Domino's and one large for $10 from Papa John's, all for pick-up. I got to Papa John's and they could not find my pizza and had a hard time finding on their computer that we had even ordered one. By the time they found my order it was out for delivery and the guy was at our door. I paid for it and the manager had to call the delivery guy to tell him it was a mix-up and I had paid. Needless to say, Doug has to dish out for the tip.
I guess the game had a few exciting moments, which Doug tries to explain to me. It all gets so complicated with all the different plays, and I just end up being even more confused. I didn't see any really great commercials. My favoriste would have to be the Doritos dog collar one.
Super Bowl Sunday, I still have white jigglers to make. Wish me luck, I have never made white jigglers before. Since we do not have much cooking to do today, I might find time to go to Younkers and look at dresses. Looking for a M.O.G. dress for the wedding.
Going in for OT again this morning. Mao is going to be mad that I am gone all day again. After work we need to do a little shopping. Not an exciting day.
I hope Thomas & Diedre had fun chaperoning the Winter Formal at the high school last night. I'm sure I will find out later today.

It's official. We are having a pizza pile-up Super Bowl Sunday, along with a few appetizers and jello jigglers in the team colors, of course.
It is Thursday and I really have nothing to talk about. Watched super bowl commercials from last 10 years and American Idol last night. Then I went to bed at 9.
January 30, 2010: Phil Harris suffered a stroke while in port off-loading from the F/V Cornelia Marie. He has been transported to a medical facility and is receiving the best care possible.
What will the groundhog see today. I am really ready for winter to be over.
We had tuna sandwiches, soup and some of Wanda's leftover spinach dip for supper last night. Mao found that he really likes the spinach dip, spinach included. Looked at dresses online for a while, watched a little TV and went to bed a little after 9.
The weekend went by way too fast! Yesterday both soups were excellent. Broccoli Cheese and Mushroom & Wild Rice. Doug took pictures both did not transfer them to the computer yet. We had Apple Upside Down Cake with Butter Brickle ice cream for dessert.
After supper we watched the Grammys. Green Day and a few others were good. I do not like The Black Eyed Peas. Later we switched to a Saturday Night Live Sports special.
We bought a 12 pack of Mountain Dew throwback. Wow, I had forgotten how good Mountain Dew really was! So are you giving me cheese or what? Prowling for cheese. I used my new garnish slicer yesterday. It was fast! Look at how uniform all the slices are. The beautiful Christmas Cactus. I love this picture. I hope it gets a few more blossoms.
I am excited for today's soups; Mushroom & Wild Rice and Broccoli Cheese.
I ended up waiting quite a while for my license renewal yesterday, the computers went down right after my number was call. My information had all been entered into their program and she was ready to send it to the camera station. She got an error and then everyone else was reporting errors. They made a call to the help desk and then made an announcement that everyone should include this into their plans for the day, because it could be 10 min., 2 hrs or the rest of the day. I had a book with me so I decided to wait it out for a while. It least I got some reading in and also finally got my renewed license.
The rest of the day was spend grocery shopping, doing laundry and watching TV. Not an exciting weekend.
I am going to go over to the DMV when it opens at 8 this morning. I hope I don't have to wait around too long to renew my license. I am taking a book to read just in case. I have been there when you had to wait for quite a while.
I am currently reading "Darwin, His Daughter & Human Evolution", written by Randal Keynes, the great-great-grandson of Charles Darwin. So far I am really enjoying the book.
Friday at last!! I have not been asked to work Saturday, so I have a 2 day weekend, it will be nice. Although, I do have to go and get my drivers license renewed in the morning. Fun times...
Last night we watched a movie called 'Couples Retreat', because all of our regular shows were reruns. The movie was so, so. There were a few funny moments, but it was kind of mean spirited through most of the movie. All the couples were redeemed in the end, but it seemed like a long time coming.
Not much to write about today. I received 2 gift cards and a certificate of achievement at work yesterday for selling the most of our new product during our sales promotion. I had to let my supervisor take my picture to send to the main office.
Last night we watched American Idol and House Hunters. See, I told you I didn't have much.
I did get my extra bonus yesterday, 140 emails. Back to answering phones today. Oh well the weekend is halfway here. No mention of working Saturday, so I am good.
Last night we had one of the best Tuna Casseroles that I have had in my life. I had to go back for seconds. We watched American Idol, I think they are having a harder time finding real talent this year. Or else they are just really annoying us by showing more of the bad singers.
Another long day at work. Now they are having us take turns working a whole day on email with no phone calls. Today is my day. If I complete over 100 I get an extra bonus.
Yesterday the wind was very strong causing bad drifts. I guess Thomas is getting over 3 foot drifts in the driveway. Yesterday Doug went outside to bring in the recycle bin and slipped cutting a chunk of skin off of the top of his foot. I guess it bled pretty good for a while. He took pictures , but I'm not sure I want to post them.
