Monday Update
Thanks to everyone who made my Birthday a special day. Chloe was here most of the day helping and making cupcakes. The red velvet cupcakes were delicious Chloe!! Thomas and Ashley called to wish me a Happy Birthday. Doug was busy all day making yummies. The best ever Chicken Tortilla Soup, Pesole, Enchilada Bake and Pineapple Topping for ice cream. Wanda brought her famous Black Bean Dip. Ross even showed up after work. Wanda gave me an awesome pink insulated reusable shopping bag. It's nice to have friends that know you well.
I just checked the temperature and it is 20 degrees, so Doug will not be starting the van this morning. It's good he will get to sleep in. I hope his headache from last night went away.

I thought I broke the computer this morning because the letters stopped typing in the middle of my post. When Doug came out and I told him, he took a look and said, "The batteries are dead in the keyboard silly!"
Signs you are getting old:
1. Can't figure out the remote (Need one with about 5 buttons).
2. Immediately think you broke the computer instead of checking for dead batteries in the keyboard.

Sunday Update
It's my Birthday!!
Yesterday was a good day. I went to the store in the afternoon while Doug cleaned house. Chloe came over while I was at the store, so she was here to help bring in the groceries.
Ross and his roommates come over for supper last night. Doug made us biscuits, sausage gravy and scrambled eggs. It was delicious, I think everyone went back for seconds. During the conversation Doug mentioned something about Gumby. Later we found out the creator of Gumby, Art Clokey, had passed away on Friday. Weird...

Saturday Update
It's cold outside and I'm glad I did not have to go to work this morning. I actually slept in until the time I am usually starting work, 7 AM. Doug got to sleep in too. He has been wonderful this week going out to start my van every morning. He said don't get used to this, once the temp goes back up to above 10 degrees, he wont do it any more. I can handle that.
We are suppose to have a visit from Chloe & Ross sometime today, I can't wait. Chloe should also be here tomorrow for soup, Chicken Tortilla & Pesole, my birthday choices.

Friday Update
The weekend is in sight at last. Yesterday my computer crashed at work and it took about 45 minutes to get it up and running again. I still had a very good sales day, it was a little stressful though.
For supper Doug made herb encrusted chicken breasts, mashed potatoes with gravy and a salad. It was very tasty and just what I needed. He also had the dishes washed and two loads of laundry done. I love that man!
We are expecting a visit from Chloe and Ross one of these days soon. I hope it is tonight.

Thursday Update
It is a very snowy morning. Unfortunately, I'm not a teacher, like some people I know and I don't get a snow day. Doug is so kind and will be getting up in just a little bit to start my car. I wont be surprise if he has it cleaned off when I'm ready to leave as well. Ahh, to be loved...
Last night we had leftover soup from Sunday and just channel surfed, mostly watching House Hunters. Doug had brought me a very light and flaky pastry from the Mexican store. It was very yummy!

Wednesday Update
Another long day yesterday. It makes it so much better when a delicious supper is waiting when you get home. Last night Doug had pork steak, corn and salad waiting for me. Got to love that man.
I kind of watched the Orange Bowl game last night. Doug knows I don't care much for football, so he flipped channels a few times. He also got very intense and excited while watching the game. If only he would let me take pictures of him, it was so cute. I do remember him coming into the bedroom and telling me the Hawks won. That is very exciting...

Yummy Soup
This is the Cream of the Holidays Soup from last Sunday. It makes me want to sit down and have a nice warm bowl of soup. Instead, I have to get ready for work and go out in the cold. However, Doug plans to warm up the van for me again.
Yesterday was a crazy day at work. Once the phones started ringing they did not stop. I ended up working 7 AM - 5:30 PM. Doug had pizza in the oven when I got home. He takes such good care of me:)

Monday Update
Sometimes I wish the whole world could just hibernate through the coldest part of winter. I did not want to get up and go to work today. But back to reality I have to. At least Doug is going to go out and start the van for me.
Yesterday we had two very satisfying soups, Cream of the Holidays and Creamy Cheesy Ham & Potato. We ate with Chloe, Ross, Wanda & Mark. Everyone loved the soups and Wanda brought a nice salad as well. We also had a very delicious dessert of peaches baked with brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon & crumbled oatmeal cookies, over vanilla ice cream topped with more cookie crumbles. Yummy!

Sunday Update
Last day of my 4 day weekend. I like long weekends and wish I could have one every week. But I guess I must work for now. It will be hard for everyone going back to work for a full 5 days.
Yesterday was a good day. I sorted some family photos and got a few put into albums. Doug braved the cold and started Gordan and Puck. Blue did not make the cut however. The car from California just does not like the cold. Doug actually came in and said "I like this weather", he expected it to be much colder.
Chloe stopped by for a visit last night. She ate pizza and watched 'Up' with us. She cried and Doug and I welled up with tears a couple of times. It was a very good movie and Doug and I both found ourselves talking to the characters on the screen a few times..."Squirrel!!"

It's about -10 °F. I almost decided to stay in bed all day, because I did not want to come out from under the warm covers. But, I need to brave the cold and start the van for a while sometime today. I also plan to put some family pictures in the new photo albums I received for Christmas. Chloe might stop by today, I really hope so.

New Years Day Update
Happy New Year Everyone!
Last night was a fun evening, even though our second movie choice was not the best. First we ate pizza & broasted chicken with Mark & Wanda. Then we sat down and watched "Extract" which wasn't a bad movie. However, our second movie choice was "Funny People" and I would not recommend it. The scenes are too long and overall it just seems to go on and on without really moving forward. It is also kind of depressing and no one is really happy in the end.
Mao was a very good boy last night. He never hissed at anyone and even came in and laid on the couch between Doug and I.

Thursday Update
Happy New Years Eve day everyone. I hope everyone has a happy and safe time tonight. We will be eating pizza and chicken with Wanda & Mark. We will also watch a movie or two. I hope I can stay awake. I tried hard to sleep in today, I was up at 10 til 6 and made myself go back to bed. I didn't get up again until almost 8, so hopefully I'm good for tonight.

Tuesday Update
It feels like Monday, but it is Tuesday. Just 2 days of work this week and then I'm off until the new year. It seems like 2009 went very quickly, I can only imagine 2010 will go even faster.

Sunday Update
Wow this week went too fast, the nest is empty again. I wish all three kids were still here:(
Thomas, Diedre and Ashley made it safely to their destinations yesterday. Chloe took her sister Georgia up to Cedar Falls yesterday to stay with an Aunt that evidently only Georgia likes. We hope to see Chloe here for supper today. I'm not sure if Ross will be with her.
Chloe and Ashley both had a rocky start before leaving yesterday. Chloe had left her lights on and needed her Daddy to jump start her car. Ashley and I went to Casey's to gas up her car. She was taking the gas cap off and was having a very difficult time of it. I tried as well and even asked her if this was the way she normally turned the cap to take it off. She said yes and it had happened one other time and she could not remember what she had done. We ended up calling Doug to come to help us. He walked up and was able to open it with little effort. It turned out we were turning the cap the wrong direction. Ashley said, "Oh yeah, the last time this happened I had a brain fart on which way to turn it too!" I should have remembered what Doug always says, "Righty tighty, lefty loosey."
I have another turkey in the roaster this morning. We are actually thinking about just eating Christmas dinner leftovers for supper tonight and putting away some turkey for my famous Turkey Tater Tot Casserole sometime this week and Cream of the Holidays Soup next Sunday. The second Sunday in January will be my birthday, not sure what I will want for soup that day.
This morning the Christmas tree will come down for another year.

Saturday Update
I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas, I know I did. We did everything very different this year, opening gifts in the afternoon instead of in the morning. I think everyone was happy with everything they got.
It was a very hectic day getting ready for the evening meal and I want to thank everyone involved for their help. There was more than enough food and sweets for everyone. It was kind of crowded and hard to get everyone in to any one room. I'm sorry if I did not get to talk with everyone a lot, but it was a fun evening over all. Ross and Bobo left before we got to the desserts, they need to come back to have some of the trifle that Chloe and Doug made. It was delicious.

Plus no one should ever expect me to be able to stay awake during a movie if the lights are off. This is one movie I will have to watch during the day when I am not so tired.

Christmas Eve Update
Yesterday was very busy; work at 7, off work at 4, came home and had pizza with the family. After supper I washed dishes while Ashley baked sugar cookies. We decorated them together which was lots of fun. Thomas picked up Diedre to come over for a little while.
Wanda & Amber stopped by with our second turkey which will be cooked on Saturday for the Cream of the Holiday's Soup. After the cookies were decorated we watched 'Christmas in Connecticut', Diedre was only able to watch a little of it because she and Thomas had to get Laura from work and give her a ride home.
Thomas went to bed after the movie. I stayed up to watch 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas & 'The Penguins of Madagascar Christmas Caper'. As long as I am writing so randomly, "Does anyone know how someone like the Grinch got such a nice dog as Max?"

Wednesday Update
I cannot wait for the work day to get over today. Thomas got home last night. We all ate chili leftovers and watched The Hangover, Ashley had not seen it yet. This was Doug's 4th time seeing the movie. It is such a fun movie, you always see something new that you missed the 1st or 2nd time. You know what I mean...
I hope today goes fast at work and slow after work. This is the first Christmas in a while with all three kids in town. I am going to try to get a picture of all three of the kids by the Christmas tree.
Mao is confused and I think a bit excited, I guess he did not nap yesterday, so he was exhausted last night. Parker is once again a guest in the house. Mao goes right to the source and hisses at Thomas now.

Tuesday Update
Had a long day at work yesterday, 7 - 5:20. It seemed even longer because I knew Ashley was traveling. After a little scare with her car not starting, she was able to make it to Eldora to see Thomas and Diedre's place. Thomas also took her for a tour of the town and school. She got home about 7:30 and we ate calzones that Doug had made. The calzones were delicious. Raws and Chloe had gone Christmas shopping earlier, so they were here to eat with us as well. I was glad Ashley finally got to meet Raws.
