Sunday Update

Yesterday was a good day. Short day at work to start with. Thomas was here when I got home. We had hamburgers for lunch and then we went to register for the tuxes. Thomas and I did a little shopping afterward. I found a nice brooch to wear with my dress for the wedding. I think it is just the right color of purple.

After Thomas and Diedre headed back home, Doug and I went grocery shopping. I finally tried the can/bottle machines at Hy Vee. Not impressed, a couple were already out of order. We also had the usual issues of people blocking the isles.

Chloe gave us good news yesterday, she will be moving here sooner than expected. Sometime the first week of May. A very welcome surprise. I have a feeling the house is going to be crowded for a little while, fitting her bed and other stuff in this house will be a challenge. I love having kids in the house and can't wait!

Saturday Update

The food at Deb's is very good! Doug and I are really enjoying our little lunch dates. It's a nice break in the middle of a busy work day.

Doug won the tux coupon at the auction. Now we can order the tuxes knowing we are saving! I'm only working 4 1/2 hours this morning, yeah! I'm happy I get to see Tommy for a little while today. Kind of sad that Chloe won't be here this weekend after all.

Friday Update

I'm happy Friday is finally here! Lunch date with Doug at Deb's!

Chloe should be stopping by for a visit sometime this weekend. And Thomas will be in town Saturday to order tuxes. Hopefully Doug will win the coupon at the radio station for tuxes at Skeffington's today.

I really need to find time to mow the grass this weekend. We are starting to get weeds longer than the grass in the back yard. I am only working a half day on Saturday so I should be able to work it in.

An Energy Star qualified CFL will save about $30 over its lifetime and pay for itself in about six months. Plus, it uses 75 percent less energy and lasts about 10 times longer than an incandescent bulb. But CFLs can cost up to 10 times more than an incandescent bulb.

The thing to remember about replacing your incandescents with CFLs is to evaluate your frequency of usage. These bulbs work better in lights that are kept on for longer periods of time. While 74 percent of Americans have switched to an energy-saving lamp in the past year, many are still unaware of the impending federal phase-out of incandescent bulbs will begin with the 100-watt bulb in 2012. Remember that CFL bulbs contain about 4 milligrams of mercury, so recycling is mandated by law. Use Earth911 to find where to recycle or properly dispose of CFLs in your area.

Not much going on here. We watched Deadliest Catch and Glee last night. Looking forward to seeing Thomas & Diedre for a short while this weekend.

Another good pic. We also had grilled chicken, fried chicken (in the grill pan), liver, bacon & onions, Ceasar salad, Cobb salad (Wanda) and potato salad. Lots of good leftovers this week.

Saturday Update

OT this morning!

We went to the Flamingo last night with Chloe & Ross. I had broasted chicken, it was very good. We were thinking of having the rehearsal dinner there. But now we think the drive there through all the flooded homes is just yucky and depressing. Not what you want for the day before a wedding.

After supper Chloe and Ross went to the Kernels game and later Doug received a text from Chloe, she said they were on the kissing cam! We stopped in at Theisens and picked up some seed potatoes. Don't worry Wanda, we got enough to share with you.

It seems that Ben & Allison left Iceland at the right time.

A giant green fireball assumed to be a meteor hit Wisconsin Wednesday night. Was seen in several states including Iowa.
