Monday Update
We ate later than normal last night. Mark and Wanda stopped by after her plane got in. We had Tater Tot Casserole with both turkey & chicken. Mark made a yummy salad and for dessert Doug made a bread pudding. I also had made Lemon Cake Mix Cookies earlier in the day. Easiest cookies ever and only 4 ingredients.

Sunday Update
This should be a busy day since it is my only weekend day. I have laundry and shopping to do this morning. Also a little house cleaning. Then I am going to put together my Tater Tot Casserole for supper tonight.

Saturday Update
I survived the long day of OT. Nothing like listening to your co-work jam to a bad country station all day. Next time I will think to bring my earphones. Then I can jam to Tool!
Chloe came for a visit last night she had supper with us, we had chicken fried steak, gravy, mashed potatoes, corn and home made wheat bread. Mark was going to join us , but called at the last minute and said he was tired. To bad Mark, you missed out on a delicious meal.
Later we watched 'Yes Man', I like the movie. I had to go to bed early so I missed Conan's last show.
Diedre has invited Wanda and I to a Stamp Stackin' party in Eldora on Feb. 6th. I hope Wanda can go, I haven't been to Eldora in ages.

Wednesday Update
Last night Doug made a most delicious quiche. He used shredded potatoes mixed with egg for the crust, then piled on asparagus, ham cubes, cheese and seasoned eggs. I had to go back for seconds!
We watched American Idol, they were in Chicago. A girl from Des Moines was put through to Hollywood. They also had a hard time giving out the golden tickets for a while.
It looks like the roads might be ugly when I get off work today, rain & sleet. Wanda, you are a lucky woman. You certainly know when to visit your mother in Florida.

Monday Update
Yesterday I baked two kinds of cookies: Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal Raisin and Peanut Butter Thumbprints with grape jelly and lingonberries. I like the PB Thumbprints the best. Doug also made some Crock Pot Candy with raisins, nuts, marshmallows and chow mein noodles.
Both soups were very delicious. We had chicken noodle and a ham vegetable lentil soup. Mark, Johnny, Sara, Nick and Ana were here. Everyone ate well.
Well I've got to go get ready for work now. Have a great Monday everyone!

Sunday Update
This weekend is going by very quickly. Mao was insistent on waking me up this morning. I wanted to sleep in and every 5 minutes he would yowl at me from the other room. Eventually I had no choice but to get up.
I did not make cookies yesterday like I had planned, so I am going to bake them this morning instead. I just found a recipe for Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal Raisin, sounds yummy....

Saturday Update
I am tired but Mao woke me at the usual time I get up during the week, so here I am blogging. I think I will go back to bed for a while when I am finished. They asked us to volunteer to work overtime next Saturday, so I will be working next Saturday. Next week will be extra long.
My last birthday gift from Thomas & Diedre arrived yesterday, I now have a 3-tier cooling rack. I have needed one of these for years. If I get up the energy, I will make cookies later today and try it out. Thanks guys!!
Last night I mostly dozed on the couch while trying to watch HGTV and the Food Network. I went to bed before 9:30.

Thursday Update
Over the hump, just 2 days to go til the weekend and a rest. Another great day at work yesterday though.
Last night we watched the second episode of American Idol. I almost forgot they run it two days a week. Last night Doug made pork sandwiches for supper. Yummy and one of Mao's favorites.
This afternoon Wanda is flying to Florida for a ten day stay with her mother. Mark will be going to Nevada to spend a few days with Amber. I hope they both have a safe trip and lots of fun.

Wednesday Update
Had another long day at work yesterday, 7-5:30. The craziness never ends. When I got home there were two packages for me from Thomas & Diedre for my birthday. I got a an onion slicer and vegetable chopper and a cookbook '101 Things to Do with a Dutch Oven'. I found some really yummy sounding recipes that I can't wait to try. They told me there were three packages coming, hmmm, I wonder what the third gift is...
Last night we watched the first episode of this seasons American Idol. Ellen was not on the show yet. She is really the only reason I am interested this year. Last year almost turned us off to the show entirely.

Tuesday Update
I could tell it was going to be warmer today when I woke up this morning, I wasn't cold when I got up. It is already 25 degrees out in the entry way. (I was wrong, when I went out to start the van the temp was 15 not 25, old eyes.)
Yesterday was another crazy day at work, I was there until about 5:45. Our sale will be ending this Thursday, so maybe things will calm down by next week.
Last night we almost missed a new episode of The Big Bang Theory, it was 10 minutes in before we realized it. We did miss the new Two & a Half Men episode. I was busy watching a nature show about humming birds, very fascinating little creatures.

Monday Update
Thanks to everyone who made my Birthday a special day. Chloe was here most of the day helping and making cupcakes. The red velvet cupcakes were delicious Chloe!! Thomas and Ashley called to wish me a Happy Birthday. Doug was busy all day making yummies. The best ever Chicken Tortilla Soup, Pesole, Enchilada Bake and Pineapple Topping for ice cream. Wanda brought her famous Black Bean Dip. Ross even showed up after work. Wanda gave me an awesome pink insulated reusable shopping bag. It's nice to have friends that know you well.
I just checked the temperature and it is 20 degrees, so Doug will not be starting the van this morning. It's good he will get to sleep in. I hope his headache from last night went away.

I thought I broke the computer this morning because the letters stopped typing in the middle of my post. When Doug came out and I told him, he took a look and said, "The batteries are dead in the keyboard silly!"
Signs you are getting old:
1. Can't figure out the remote (Need one with about 5 buttons).
2. Immediately think you broke the computer instead of checking for dead batteries in the keyboard.

It's my Birthday!!
Yesterday was a good day. I went to the store in the afternoon while Doug cleaned house. Chloe came over while I was at the store, so she was here to help bring in the groceries.
Ross and his roommates come over for supper last night. Doug made us biscuits, sausage gravy and scrambled eggs. It was delicious, I think everyone went back for seconds. During the conversation Doug mentioned something about Gumby. Later we found out the creator of Gumby, Art Clokey, had passed away on Friday. Weird...

Saturday Update
It's cold outside and I'm glad I did not have to go to work this morning. I actually slept in until the time I am usually starting work, 7 AM. Doug got to sleep in too. He has been wonderful this week going out to start my van every morning. He said don't get used to this, once the temp goes back up to above 10 degrees, he wont do it any more. I can handle that.
We are suppose to have a visit from Chloe & Ross sometime today, I can't wait. Chloe should also be here tomorrow for soup, Chicken Tortilla & Pesole, my birthday choices.

Friday Update
The weekend is in sight at last. Yesterday my computer crashed at work and it took about 45 minutes to get it up and running again. I still had a very good sales day, it was a little stressful though.
For supper Doug made herb encrusted chicken breasts, mashed potatoes with gravy and a salad. It was very tasty and just what I needed. He also had the dishes washed and two loads of laundry done. I love that man!
We are expecting a visit from Chloe and Ross one of these days soon. I hope it is tonight.

Thursday Update
It is a very snowy morning. Unfortunately, I'm not a teacher, like some people I know and I don't get a snow day. Doug is so kind and will be getting up in just a little bit to start my car. I wont be surprise if he has it cleaned off when I'm ready to leave as well. Ahh, to be loved...
Last night we had leftover soup from Sunday and just channel surfed, mostly watching House Hunters. Doug had brought me a very light and flaky pastry from the Mexican store. It was very yummy!

Wednesday Update
Another long day yesterday. It makes it so much better when a delicious supper is waiting when you get home. Last night Doug had pork steak, corn and salad waiting for me. Got to love that man.
I kind of watched the Orange Bowl game last night. Doug knows I don't care much for football, so he flipped channels a few times. He also got very intense and excited while watching the game. If only he would let me take pictures of him, it was so cute. I do remember him coming into the bedroom and telling me the Hawks won. That is very exciting...

Yummy Soup
This is the Cream of the Holidays Soup from last Sunday. It makes me want to sit down and have a nice warm bowl of soup. Instead, I have to get ready for work and go out in the cold. However, Doug plans to warm up the van for me again.
Yesterday was a crazy day at work. Once the phones started ringing they did not stop. I ended up working 7 AM - 5:30 PM. Doug had pizza in the oven when I got home. He takes such good care of me:)

Monday Update
Sometimes I wish the whole world could just hibernate through the coldest part of winter. I did not want to get up and go to work today. But back to reality I have to. At least Doug is going to go out and start the van for me.
Yesterday we had two very satisfying soups, Cream of the Holidays and Creamy Cheesy Ham & Potato. We ate with Chloe, Ross, Wanda & Mark. Everyone loved the soups and Wanda brought a nice salad as well. We also had a very delicious dessert of peaches baked with brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon & crumbled oatmeal cookies, over vanilla ice cream topped with more cookie crumbles. Yummy!

Sunday Update
Last day of my 4 day weekend. I like long weekends and wish I could have one every week. But I guess I must work for now. It will be hard for everyone going back to work for a full 5 days.
Yesterday was a good day. I sorted some family photos and got a few put into albums. Doug braved the cold and started Gordan and Puck. Blue did not make the cut however. The car from California just does not like the cold. Doug actually came in and said "I like this weather", he expected it to be much colder.
Chloe stopped by for a visit last night. She ate pizza and watched 'Up' with us. She cried and Doug and I welled up with tears a couple of times. It was a very good movie and Doug and I both found ourselves talking to the characters on the screen a few times..."Squirrel!!"

Saturday Update
It's about -10 °F. I almost decided to stay in bed all day, because I did not want to come out from under the warm covers. But, I need to brave the cold and start the van for a while sometime today. I also plan to put some family pictures in the new photo albums I received for Christmas. Chloe might stop by today, I really hope so.

New Years Day Update
Happy New Year Everyone!
Last night was a fun evening, even though our second movie choice was not the best. First we ate pizza & broasted chicken with Mark & Wanda. Then we sat down and watched "Extract" which wasn't a bad movie. However, our second movie choice was "Funny People" and I would not recommend it. The scenes are too long and overall it just seems to go on and on without really moving forward. It is also kind of depressing and no one is really happy in the end.
Mao was a very good boy last night. He never hissed at anyone and even came in and laid on the couch between Doug and I.
