Friday Update

So now it is Friday for everyone else. Today should be a little busy for me. I have to go over to the Marion streets department to see about a on street parking permit for this winter. I also have to get last minute ingredients for the home-made pizzas tonight. We should have a good assortment for all. Tonight is our annual pumpkin carving night. This year Mark and Wanda are going to join in the fun.

Thursday Update

Yeah!!! Today is my Friday at work. I hope the day goes quickly. We will be getting the regular flu shot this afternoon at work. Thomas and Diedre got the H1N1 flu mist yesterday.

Not much to blog today. Last night we watched the 'Monsters vs Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins from outer Space' special. It was fun.

Wednesday Update

Not much happening at Russet House this week. It won't get exciting until Friday when we have everyone over for pumpkin carving. I finally have the pictures of Chloe's carving skills.

Tuesday Update

I hope today goes smoother at work. We were very busy and then our ordering system went on the blink and decided to not work at all. Makes for a very stressful day when you have to tell customers you can't place their order at this time. Sometimes it's a wonder that anyone orders from us at all.

Last night everything on TV was a rerun. We also had the pilot light go out on the furnace. At least it's not the middle of winter yet.

Monday Update

Yesterday ended up very good. We had Pumpkin Soup, Chicken Noodle Soup and Chicken Alphabet Soup. Wanda also brought her famous Pumpkin Bars. Chloe showed up for a bowl of soup around 6:30 and she carved a nice pumpkin for us. I will post pictures as soon as I have them on the computer.

I went outside to take the trash out this morning and Mao's friend Carmel was sleeping on one of the chairs. She got startled and ran under Puck. I think she was trying to stay out of the rain. I hope we don't get more water in the basement. The front room was just starting to dry out.

Bears get a Halloween treat

The Minnesota Zoos grizzly bears took less than ten minutes to destroy a 500-pound pumpkin that was presented to them inside their exhibit as part of an early Halloween treat.

Sunday Update

I hope it stays dry again today. The basement is starting to dry out. I was not able to finish mopping the basement yesterday because I seem to have pulled something in my leg and it gave me a shooting pain when I took a step every once in a while yesterday. The only thing I ended up doing yesterday was a bit of laundry, grocery shopping and watching a couple more episodes of the Monty Python documentary.

Yesterday Thomas finished the laminate in their kitchen and just has a few little things to finish up. I think they are pretty excited about the fact that the house is now complete after the hail damage and they were able to make some improvements inside as well.

Saturday Update

The weekend is finally here. There are now a few puddles of water in the basement. It is coming in through the cracks in the floor. I guess there will be some moping to be done today. Not sure what else I will be doing. It is hard to get motivated for anything with all of this gloomy weather.

Friday Update

We have a yard full of leaves and only the top half of our big trees are empty. I'm just waiting for the bottom half to drop. Yesterday I was walking out to Puck and I felt something fall on my shoulder. It was a large leaf, it fell so hard it felt like something much larger had hit me.

It has been raining so much that our sump pump was working through the night. So far there is only water in the pump well, no water on the floor anywhere.

Thursday Update

I don't have much to blog about today. Yesterday at work I had a new person set with me most of the day to listen to my calls. It was also a pretty good day for sales. Nothing much happened at home we watched Glee and a new episode of Living With Ed.

Mao fell asleep on the rug waiting for me to bring him cheese this morning. He is still sleeping there.

Wednesday Update

Thank goodness it is hump day. I really have nothing to blog about. I was quite tired last night, it always seemed like it was an hour later than it really was, so I went to bed early. We did watch the first part of the Monty Python documentary that Tivo'd. After that I can't really remember what we watched, probably because I fell asleep on the couch.

Not much going on this week. Busy at work, but Monday still went slow. We watched the usual Monday night shows; Antiques Road Show, Two & a Half Men, Big Band Theory and The Leno Show. Mao spent most of the night trying to get my attention to give him cheese. He got some of my pork chop at supper, so he did not get cheese. Spoiled cat...

Monday Update

Yesterday was a pretty usual Sunday, cleaning washing dishes, Doug did the cooking and I baked cupcakes. We had a good meal of pork and spaetzle noodles yesterday, Wanda brought a salad and Justin brought some yummy pumpkin bites. We watched Dexter of course and a Monty Python special.

Sunday Update

Another sunny weekend morning. I was woke up just before 7 by Mao putting his paw on my arm and meowing. I don't think he was all that hungry, he just wanted me up. I put food in his bowl and he just walked away.

Last night we watched Slum Dog Millionaire and Monsters VS Aliens. Unfortunately, I fell asleep during the second movie and did not get to see the ending.

Today we are having pork & spaetzle noodles. This is one of my favorite dishes.

Saturday Update

The sun is actually out this morning. That is a good start to the day. Not too many plans this weekend; menus and shopping probably. We have quite a few leaves down in the yard, they are getting into the entryway. I may decide to clean them out this afternoon.

Thomas and Diedre stopped by for a visit last night it was nice to see them. They have a wedding to attend in Mt Pleasant today.

I'm glad it is Friday. It's been a long week.

Mao liked his birthday gift. It is a little turtle on a stick and you put cat nip in it's stomach. He likes to grab the stick out of my hand and then run out of the room with it. I will have to post pictures when I get some.

Hump day is finally here. I worked a half hour of overtime yesterday. We also now have three new employees, two in tech and one to take my supervisors place during her leave and the after that she will fill in where needed and do quality assurance. I am blank today. Not much else to blog about.

Tuesday Update

Another exciting week has started. Yesterday was just work, come home, eat supper (which was yummy by the way - chilitos with leftover chili), wash dishes and watch Antiques Road Show, Two & a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory. I have a feeling today will bring more of the same. Such is life in the Fall in Iowa....

Monday Update

Yesterday was a very productive day. Doug and I cleaned Thumper's tank. He always appreciates a clean tank. I also washed dishes and laundry and went outside for about an hour and a half to clean out the garden. Everything had finally gotten hit by frost, even the zucchini. We so have a few of the last small zucchini survivors that we need to do something with this week.

It was nice seeing Chloe for a few hours. The soups were really great. I especially liked the white chili and Wanda's spinach dip is always a favorite. Dexter was another exciting episode, I can't wait for next week.

Advice to live by.

Everyone wishes they could go back in time knowing what they know now. Since that's not possible, the next best thing is to listen to advice from those that already know. Here is some important advice to live by.

Sunday Update

Not much to update. Yesterday was a usual Saturday; laundry, dishes, grocery shopping and TV in the evening. Nothing too exciting.

We hope to see Chloe for supper tonight. We are having regular chili and white chili. If we are lucky she will stay to watch Dexter with us. I think Wanda and Amber will be stopping by early today to catch up on last weeks episode of Dexter. It should be very good this week.

Saturday Update

Did you know that if you do a Google search for Saturday Update right now you get 171,000,000 results? I just thought I would try it once since I do not have a lot to update about.

Last night was a pretty lazy evening. We had leftovers for supper and I did not even wash dishes. We watched two episodes of America's Deadliest Season: Alaskan Crab Fishing. We also watched Craft in America | Episode V: Process | PBS (#105). I was having trouble staying awake, so I went to bed around 10.

Friday Update

Yeah it is Friday! Doug is up early this morning to watch NASA crash a probe into the lunar surface of the moon in a search for evidence of water. I need to hurry with my blog update so I can get ready for work and possibly watch it with him. I'm not sure how long it will take or if I will be able to watch all of the coverage before leaving for work.

Thursday Update

I see the Marion Planning and Zoning Commission has decided to go ahead with the next phase of the redevelopment plan for the east-west corridor through town. It doesn't matter what the people of Marion want.

Last night was pretty quiet around here. We watched Craft in America on PBS and then Glee and The Leno Show. Glee is getting better every week. Tonight is the big wedding on The Office.

Wednesday Update

I can't believe it is Wednesday already, not that it is a bad thing. Yesterday I worked until 5 again. When I got home we were about to have supper when we decided to go with Wanda to the City Planning & Development meeting at City Hall. It was at 6 and we were there until almost 8. I think the "Plan" needs a lot more work before the citizens of Marion will be for it. There were so many people at the meeting last night we had to stand in the lobby.

Tuesday Update

Yesterday was a busy Monday at work. I stayed for a 1/2 hour of overtime. After work I rushed home to go to Drugtown with Doug. He was getting his flu shot. We ended up standing in line for an hour and a half. We were next to a 78 year old woman who decided she needed to talk most of the time. She must watch a lot of TV, because she knows all about what is happening on Oprah, Letterman and the news. She also talked a lot about how she could not wait to join her husband in heaven and she did not want to live past 80. Doug and I wondered, "Why the flu shot then?"

We had supper when we got home and watched Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory. Doug also watched the Vikings game off and on all night. I believe the Vikings won.

Thomas and Diedre's house is now completely finished on the outside. It looks like a brand new home now. Very nice....

Monday Update

I'm not ready to go back to work. It's probably because the bed was so warm this morning.

We had a good turnout for soup yesterday; Sara, Jacob, Ana, Nick, Justin, Johnny, Bret and Mark. Both soups were delicious. Hardly any leftovers. I also baked a chocolate cake and Justin brought a 4lb. tin of butter cookies.

Dexter was another good episode which I won't say much about since some people we know have not seen it yet. All I can say is Dexter had better be more careful or he will have another Doakes on his hands.

Thomas and Diedre now have a very beautiful home exterior. All this is missing is the shutters, which should be installed today. It is looking very nice.

Sunday Update

It's Sunday already, vacation is almost over. Today is definitely a good soup day. We will have two kinds; Cheesy Potato & Ham and 15 Bean & Ham.

Yesterday I spent cleaning and baking. Doug went to Johnny's to set up Bret's new laptop. He also stopped in to visit Justin. One of his four dogs has cancer. That is so sad. Justin will be joining us for supper today.

Thomas and Diedre finally got the rest of their windows installed. It is a good thing, now they wont have so many drafts on these cold Fall days.

Friday Update

I just spent too much time online. I am going to eat breakfast and then bake some chocolate chip cookies. The only thing I really like about Fall and Winter is that you enjoy baking because it warms up the house and smells good too.

Unfortunately we were unable to drive up to St. Paul for the family weekend at St. Kate's. We will try to plan for another time. Ashley had to leave her evening class early yesterday because she was feeling feverish and sick to her stomach. I hope she is feeling better today. Also hope it is not H1N1.

Yeah, I'm not at work! I even slept in, of course I was awake a little past my normal bed time last night. Not much planned for today.
